1 Corinthians 16

CEB 1 Concerning the collection of money for God's people: You should do what I have directed the churches in Galatia to do. NRS 1 Now concerning the collection for the saints: you should follow the directions I gave to the churches of Galatia. CEB 2 On the first day of the week, each of you should set aside whatever you can afford from what you earn so that the collection won't be delayed until I come. NRS 2 On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come. CEB 3 Then when I get there, I'll send whomever you approve to Jerusalem with letters of recommendation to bring your gift. NRS 3 And when I arrive, I will send any whom you approve with letters to take your gift to Jerusalem. CEB 4 If it seems right for me to go too, they'll travel with me. NRS 4 If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me. CEB 5 I'll come to you after I go through Macedonia, and because I'm going through Macedonia, NRS 5 I will visit you after passing through Macedonia—for I intend to pass through Macedonia— CEB 6 I may stay with you or even spend the winter there in Corinth so that you can send me on my way to wherever I'm off to next. NRS 6 and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way, wherever I go. CEB 7 I don't want to make a quick visit to you, since I hope to spend some time with you if the Lord lets it happen. NRS 7 I do not want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. CEB 8 I'll stay here in Ephesus until the Festival of Pentecost. NRS 8 But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, CEB 9 In spite of the fact that there are many opponents, a big and productive opportunity has opened up for my mission here. NRS 9 for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. CEB 10 If Timothy comes to you, be sure that he has no reason to be afraid while he's with you, because he does the work of the Lord just like I do. NRS 10 If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am; CEB 11 So don't let anyone disrespect him, but send him on in peace so he can join me. I'm waiting for him along with the brothers and sisters. NRS 11 therefore let no one despise him. Send him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me; for I am expecting him with the brothers. CEB 12 Concerning Apollos our brother: I strongly encouraged him to visit you with the brothers and sisters, but he didn't want to go now. He'll come when he has an opportunity. NRS 12 Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. He will come when he has the opportunity. CEB 13 Stay awake, stand firm in your faith, be brave, be strong. NRS 13 Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. CEB 14 Everything should be done in love. NRS 14 Let all that you do be done in love. CEB 15 Brothers and sisters, I encourage you to do something else. You know that the people in Stephanas' household were the first crop of the harvest to come from the mission to Achaia. They have dedicated themselves to the service of God's people. NRS 15 Now, brothers and sisters, you know that members of the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints; CEB 16 So accept the authority of people like them and of anyone who cooperates and works hard. NRS 16 I urge you to put yourselves at the service of such people, and of everyone who works and toils with them. CEB 17 I'm so happy that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived; they've made up for my missing you. NRS 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence; CEB 18 Indeed they've provided my spirit and yours with a much-needed rest. Therefore, give them proper recognition. NRS 18 for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. So give recognition to such persons. CEB 19 The churches in the province of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca greet you warmly in the Lord, together with the church that meets in their house. NRS 19 The churches of Asia send greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house, greet you warmly in the Lord. CEB 20 All the brothers and sisters greet you. You in turn should greet each other with a holy kiss. NRS 20 All the brothers and sisters send greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. CEB 21 Here is my greeting in my own handwriting—Paul. NRS 21 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. CEB 22 A curse on anyone who doesn't love the Lord. Come, Lord! NRS 22 Let anyone be accursed who has no love for the Lord. Our Lord, come! CEB 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. NRS 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. CEB 24 My love is with all of you in Christ Jesus. NRS 24 My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus.
