1 Corinthians 5

NAS 1 It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife. NIV 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. NAS 2 You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. NIV 2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? NAS 3 For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. NIV 3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. NAS 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, NIV 4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, NAS 5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. NIV 5 hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. NAS 6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? NIV 6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? NAS 7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. NIV 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. NAS 8 Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. NIV 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. NAS 9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; NIV 9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— NAS 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. NIV 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. NAS 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler -not even to eat with such a one. NIV 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. NAS 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders ? Do you not judge those who are within the church? NIV 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? NAS 13 But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES . NIV 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
