1 Corinthians 1:1-17

NAS 1 Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, NIV 1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, NAS 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: NIV 2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours: NAS 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NAS 4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, NIV 4 I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. NAS 5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, NIV 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— NAS 6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, NIV 6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. NAS 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. NAS 8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. NAS 9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord . NIV 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. NAS 10 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. NIV 10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. NAS 11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you. NIV 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. NAS 12 Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ." NIV 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas ”; still another, “I follow Christ.” NAS 13 Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? NIV 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? NAS 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, NIV 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, NAS 15 so that no one would say you were baptized in my name. NIV 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. NAS 16 Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. NIV 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) NAS 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. NIV 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
