1 Peter 1:3-12

KJV 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, NIV 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, KJV 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, NIV 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, KJV 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. NIV 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. KJV 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: NIV 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. KJV 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: NIV 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. KJV 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: NIV 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, KJV 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. NIV 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. KJV 10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: NIV 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, KJV 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. NIV 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. KJV 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. NIV 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
