1 Samuel 2:1-10

KJV 1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. NIV 1 Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the LORD; in the LORD my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. KJV 2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. NIV 2 “There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. KJV 3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. NIV 3 “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. KJV 4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. NIV 4 “The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. KJV 5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. NIV 5 Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away. KJV 6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. NIV 6 “The LORD brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. KJV 7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. NIV 7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. KJV 8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them. NIV 8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; on them he has set the world. KJV 9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. NIV 9 He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness. “It is not by strength that one prevails; KJV 10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed. NIV 10 those who oppose the LORD will be broken. The Most High will thunder from heaven; the LORD will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
