1 Yà xī duō Fú yòu duì Yēshālóng shuō , qiú nǐ zhún wǒ tiānxuǎn yī wàn èr qiā rén , jīnyè wǒ jiù qǐshēn zhuīgǎn Dàwèi ,

Ahithophel said to Absalom, “I would choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David.
2 Chèn tā pí fá shǒu ruǎn , wǒ hūrán zhuī shàng tā , shǐ tā jīng huáng . gēnsuí tāde mín bì dōu taópǎo , wǒ jiù dān shā wáng yī rén ,

I would attack him while he is weary and weak. I would strike him with terror, and then all the people with him will flee. I would strike down only the king
3 Shǐ zhòng mín dōu guī shùn nǐ . nǐ suǒ xúnzhǎo de rén jìrán sǐ le , zhòng mín jiù rú yǐjing guī shùn nǐ . zhèyàng , yĕ dōu píngān wú shì le .

and bring all the people back to you. The death of the man you seek will mean the return of all; all the people will be unharmed.”
4 Yē Shālóng hé Yǐsèliè de zhǎnglǎo dōu yǐ zhè huà wéi mĕi .

This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel.
5 Yē Shālóng shuō , yào zhào Yàjīrén hù shāi lái , wǒmen yĕ yào tīng tā zĕnyàng shuō .

But Absalom said, “Summon also Hushai the Arkite, so we can hear what he has to say as well.”
6 Hù shāi dào le Yēshālóng miànqián , Yēshālóng xiàng tā shuō , yà xī duō Fú shì rúcǐ rúcǐ shuō de , wǒmen zhào zhe tāde huà xíng kĕyǐ bùkĕ yǐ . ruò bùkĕ , nǐ jiù shuō ba .

When Hushai came to him, Absalom said, “Ahithophel has given this advice. Should we do what he says? If not, give us your opinion.”

Hushai replied to Absalom, “The advice Ahithophel has given is not good this time.
8 Hù shāi yòu shuō , nǐ zhīdào , nǐ fùqin hé gēnsuí tāde rén dōu shì yǒng shì , xiànzaì tāmen xīnli nǎonù , rútóng tiānyĕ diū zǎi zǐ de mǔ xióng yìbān , érqiĕ nǐ fùqin shì gè zhànshì , bì bù hé mín yītóng zhù xiù .

You know your father and his men; they are fighters, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Besides, your father is an experienced fighter; he will not spend the night with the troops.
9 Tā xiànjīn huò cáng zaì kēng zhōng huò zaì bié chù , ruò yǒu rén shǒuxiān beì shā , fán tīngjian de bì shuō , gēnsuí Yēshālóng de mín beì shā le .

Even now, he is hidden in a cave or some other place. If he should attack your troops first, whoever hears about it will say, ‘There has been a slaughter among the troops who follow Absalom.’
10 Suī yǒu rén dǎn dà rú shīzi , tāde xīn yĕ bì xiāohuà . yīnwei Yǐsèliè rén dōu zhīdào nǐ fùqin shì yīngxióng , gēnsuí tāde rén yĕ dōu shì yǒng shì .

Then even the bravest soldier, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will melt with fear, for all Israel knows that your father is a fighter and that those with him are brave.
11 Yī wǒ zhī jì , bù rú jiāng Yǐsèliè zhòngrén cóng dàn zhídào Bièshìbā , rútóng hǎi bian de shā nàyàng duō jùjí dào nǐ zhèlǐ lái , nǐ yĕ qīnzì shuaìlǐng tāmen chū zhàn .

“So I advise you: Let all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba—as numerous as the sand on the seashore—be gathered to you, with you yourself leading them into battle.
12 Zhèyàng , wǒmen zaì héchu yùjiàn tā , jiù xià dào Tānàli , rútóng lùshuǐ xià zaì dì shàng yìbān , lián tā daì gēnsuí tāde rén , yī gè yĕ bù liú xià .

Then we will attack him wherever he may be found, and we will fall on him as dew settles on the ground. Neither he nor any of his men will be left alive.
13 Tā ruò jìn le nǎ yī zuò chéng , Yǐsèliè zhòngrén bì daì shéngzi qù , jiāng nà chéng là dào hé lǐ , shènzhì lián yī kuaì xiǎo shítou dōu bù shèngxia .

If he withdraws into a city, then all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we will drag it down to the valley until not so much as a pebble is left.”
14 Yē Shālóng hé Yǐsèliè zhòngrén shuō , Yàjīrén hù shāi de jì móu bǐ yà xī duō Fú de jì móu gèng hǎo . zhè shì yīn Yēhéhuá déng yì pò huaì yà xī duō Fú de liáng móu , wéi yào jiàng huò yǔ Yēshālóng .

Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the LORD had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.
15 Hù shāi duì jìsī Sādū hé yà bǐ yà tā shuō , yà xī duō Fú wéi Yēshālóng hé Yǐsèliè de zhǎnglǎo suǒ déng de jì móu shì rúcǐ rúcǐ , wǒ suǒ déng de jì móu shì rúcǐ rúcǐ .

Hushai told Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, “Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the elders of Israel to do such and such, but I have advised them to do so and so.

Now send a message at once and tell David, ‘Do not spend the night at the fords in the wilderness; cross over without fail, or the king and all the people with him will be swallowed up.’ ”
17 Nàshí , Yuēnádān hé yà xī mǎ sī zaì yǐn luó jié nàli dĕnghòu , bù gǎn jìn chéng , kǒngpà beì rén kànjian . yǒu yī gè shǐnǚ chūlai , jiāng zhè huà gàosu tāmen , tāmen jiù qù bàoxìn gĕi Dàwèi wáng .

Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying at En Rogel. A female servant was to go and inform them, and they were to go and tell King David, for they could not risk being seen entering the city.
18 Ránér yǒu yī gè tóngzǐ kànjian tāmen , jiù qù gàosu Yēshālóng . tāmen jímáng paó dào bā hù lín mǒu rén de jiā lǐ . nà rén yuàn zhōng yǒu yīkǒu jǐng , tāmen jiù xià dào jǐng lǐ .

But a young man saw them and told Absalom. So the two of them left at once and went to the house of a man in Bahurim. He had a well in his courtyard, and they climbed down into it.
19 Nà jiā de fùrén yòng gĕ gaì shàng jǐng kǒu , yòu zaì shàng tóu pū shàng suì maì , shì jiù méiyǒu xiè lòu .

His wife took a covering and spread it out over the opening of the well and scattered grain over it. No one knew anything about it.
20 Yē Shālóng de púrén lái dào nà jiā , wèn fùrén shuō , yà xī mǎ sī hé Yuēnádān zaì nǎli . fùrén shuō , tāmen guō le hé le . púrén zhǎo tāmen , zhǎo bù zhaó , jiù huí Yēlùsǎlĕng qù le .

When Absalom’s men came to the woman at the house, they asked, “Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” The woman answered them, “They crossed over the brook.” The men searched but found no one, so they returned to Jerusalem.

After they had gone, the two climbed out of the well and went to inform King David. They said to him, “Set out and cross the river at once; Ahithophel has advised such and such against you.”
22 Yúshì Dàwèi hé gēnsuí tāde rén dōu qǐlai , guō Yuēdànhé . dào le tiān liàng , wú yī rén bú guō Yuēdànhé de .

So David and all the people with him set out and crossed the Jordan. By daybreak, no one was left who had not crossed the Jordan.
23 Yà xī duō Fú jiàn bù yīcóng tāde jì móu , jiù beì shàng lü , guī huí bĕn chéng . dào le jiā , liú xià yí yán , biàn diào sǐ le , zàng zaì tā fùqin de fùnmù lǐ .

When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.
24 Dàwèi dào le Mǎhāniàn , Yēshālóng hé gēnsuí tāde Yǐsèliè rén yĕ dōu guō le Yuēdànhé .

David went to Mahanaim, and Absalom crossed the Jordan with all the men of Israel.
25 Yē Shālóng lì yà Mǎsā zuò yuán shuaì , daìtì Yuēyē . yà Mǎsā shì Yǐshímǎlì rén ( yòu zuò Yǐsèliè rén ) yǐ tè là de érzi . yǐ tè là céng yǔ ná xiá de nǚér yà bǐ gāi qīnjìn . zhè yà bǐ gāi yǔ Yuēyē de mǔqin xǐ lǔ yǎ shì zǐ meì .

Absalom had appointed Amasa over the army in place of Joab. Amasa was the son of Jether, an Ishmaelite who had married Abigail , the daughter of Nahash and sister of Zeruiah the mother of Joab.
26 Yē Shālóng hé Yǐsèliè rén dōu ān yíng zaì Jīliè dì .

The Israelites and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
27 Dàwèi dào le Mǎhāniàn , yà mén zú de là bā rén ná xiá de érzi shuò bǐ , luó dǐ bā rén yà Mǐlì de érzi Machir , Jīliè de luó jī lín rén Bāxīlái ,

When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim
28 Daì zhe beì , rù , pén , wǎn , wà qì , xiǎomaì , dàmaì , maì miàn , chǎo gǔ , dòu zǐ , hóngdòu , chǎo dòu ,

brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils,
29 Fēngmì , nǎi yóu , miányáng , nǎi bǐng , gōngjǐ Dàwèi hé gēnsuí tāde rén chī . tāmen shuō , mín zaì kuàngyĕ , bì jīkĕ kùnfá le .

honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become exhausted and hungry and thirsty in the wilderness.”
