2 Samuele 22

1 E DAVIDE proferì al Signore le parole di questo cantico, al giorno che il Signore l’ebbe riscosso dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici, e dalla mano di Saulle;

2 e disse: Il Signore è la mia rocca, e la mia fortezza, e il mio liberatore;

3 Egli è l’Iddio della mia rupe, io spererò in lui; Egli è il mio scudo, e il corno della mia salute; Il mio alto ricetto, il mio rifugio; Il mio Salvatore, che mi salva di violenza.

4 Io invocai il Signore, al quale appartiene ogni lode, E fui salvato da’ miei nemici.

5 Perciocchè onde di morte mi aveano intorniato, Torrenti di scellerati mi aveano spaventato.

6 Legami di sepolcro, mi aveano circondato, Lacci di morte mi aveano incontrato.

7 Mentre io era distretto, io invocai il Signore, E gridai all’Iddio mio; Ed egli udì la mia voce dal suo Tempio, E il mio grido pervenne a’ suoi orecchi.

8 Allora la terra fu smossa, e tremò; I fondamenti de’ cieli furono crollati e scossi; Perciocchè egli era acceso nell’ira.

9 Fumo gli saliva per le nari, E fuoco consumante per la bocca; Da lui procedevano brace accese.

10 Ed egli abbassò i cieli, e discese, Avendo una caligine sotto a’ suoi piedi.

11 E cavalcava sopra Cherubini, e volava, Ed appariva sopra le ale del vento.

12 Ed avea poste d’intorno a sè, per tabernacoli, tenebre, Viluppi d’acque, e nubi dell’aria,

13 Dallo splendore che scoppiava davanti a lui, Procedevano brace accese.

14 Il Signore tonò dal cielo, E l’Altissimo mandò fuori la sua voce;

15 Ed avventò saette, e disperse coloro; Folgore, e li mise in rotta.

16 E, per lo sgridare del Signore, E per lo soffiar dell’alito delle sue nari, I canali del mare furon veduti, I fondamenti del mondo furono scoperti.

17 Egli da alto distese la mano, Mi prese, mi trasse fuori di grandi acque.

18 Egli mi riscosse dal mio potente nemico, Da quelli che mi odiavano; perciocchè erano più forti di me.

19 Essi mi erano venuti incontro al giorno della mia calamità; Ma il Signore fu il mio sostegno.

20 E mi trasse fuori in luogo largo; Egli mi liberò; perciocchè egli mi gradisce.

21 Il Signore mi ha fatta la retribuzione secondo la mia giustizia; Egli mi ha renduto secondo la purità delle mie mani.

22 Perciocchè io ho osservate le vie del Signore, E non mi sono empiamente rivolto dall’Iddio mio.

23 Perciocchè io ho tenute davanti agli occhi tutte le sue leggi, E non mi son rivolto da’ suoi statuti.

24 E sono stato intiero inverso lui, E mi son guardato dalla mia iniquità.

25 E il Signore mi ha fatta la retribuzione secondo la mia giustizia, Secondo la purità che io ho guardata davanti agli occhi suoi.

26 Tu ti mostri pietoso inverso il pio, Intiero inverso l’uomo intiero.

27 Puro inverso il puro, E ritroso inverso il perverso;

28 E salvi la gente afflitta, E bassi gli occhi in su gli altieri.

29 Perciocchè tu sei la mia lampana, o Signore; E il Signore allumina le mie tenebre.

30 Perciocchè per te io rompo tutta una schiera; Per l’Iddio mio io salgo sopra il muro.

31 La via di Dio è intiera; La parola del Signore è purgata col fuoco; Egli è scudo a tutti coloro che sperano in lui.

32 Perciocchè, chi è Dio, fuor che il Signore? E chi è Rocca, fuor che l’Iddio nostro?

33 Iddio è la mia forza; e il mio valore; Ed ha renduta spedita e appianata la mia via.

34 Egli rende i miei piedi simili a quelli delle cerve, E mi fa star ritto in su i miei alti luoghi.

35 Egli ammaestra le mie mani alla battaglia, E con le mie braccia un arco di rame è spezzato.

36 Tu mi hai ancora dato lo scudo della tua salvezza, E la tua benignità mi ha accresciuto.

37 Tu hai allargati i miei passi sotto me, E le mie calcagna non son vacillate.

38 Io ho perseguiti i miei nemici, e li ho sterminati; E non me ne son tornato indietro, finchè non li avessi distrutti.

39 Io li ho distrutti, e li ho trafitti, e non son potuti risorgere; E mi son caduti sotto a’ piedi.

40 E tu mi hai cinto di prodezza per la guerra; Tu hai abbassati sotto me quelli che si levavano contro a me.

41 Ed hai fatte voltar le spalle a’ miei nemici, Ed a coloro che mi odiavano, davanti a me; Ed io li ho sterminati.

42 Essi riguardavano in qua ed in là, ma non vi fu chi li salvasse; Riguardarono al Signore, ma egli non rispose loro.

43 Ed io li ho stritolati minuto come polvere della terra; Io li ho calpestati, schiacciati, come il fango delle strade.

44 Tu mi hai ancora scampato dalle brighe del mio popolo; Tu mi hai guardato per esser capo di genti; Il popolo che io non conosceva, mi è divenuto servo.

45 Gli stranieri si sono infinti inverso me; Al solo udire degli orecchi, si son renduti ubbidienti a me.

46 Gli stranieri son divenuti fiacchi, Ed hanno tremato di paura fin dentro i lor ricetti chiusi.

47 Viva il Signore, e benedetta sia la mia Rocca; E sia esaltato Iddio, ch’è la Rocca della mia salvezza.

48 Iddio è quel che mi dà modo di far le mie vendette, E che abbassa i popoli sotto me.

49 Ed è quel che mi trae fuori da’ miei nemici; Tu mi levi ad alto d’infra coloro che mi assaltano, E mi riscuoti dagli uomini violenti.

50 Perciò, o Signore, io ti celebrerò fra le nazioni, E salmeggerò al tuo Nome;

51 Il quale rende magnifiche le vittorie del suo re, Ed usa benignità inverso Davide, suo Unto, E inverso la sua progenie, in sempiterno.

Good News Translation GNT

1 When the Lord saved David from Saul and his other enemies, David sang this song to the Lord:

2 The Lord is my protector; he is my strong fortress.

3 My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. He is my savior; he protects me and saves me from violence.

4 I call to the Lord, and he saves me from my enemies. Praise the Lord!

5 The waves of death were all around me; the waves of destruction rolled over me.

6 The danger of death was around me, and the grave set its trap for me.

7 In my trouble I called to the Lord; I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.

8 Then the earth trembled and shook; the foundations of the sky rocked and quivered because God was angry!

9 Smoke poured out of his nostrils, a consuming flame and burning coals from his mouth.

10 He tore the sky open and came down, with a dark cloud under his feet.

11 He flew swiftly on his winged creature; he traveled on the wings of the wind.

12 He covered himself with darkness; thick clouds, full of water, surrounded him;

13 burning coals flamed up from the lightning before him.

14 Then the Lord thundered from the sky, and the voice of Almighty God was heard.

15 He shot his arrows and scattered his enemies; with flashes of lightning he sent them running.

16 The floor of the ocean was laid bare, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered when the Lord rebuked his enemies and roared at them in anger.

17 The Lord reached down from above and took hold of me; he pulled me out of the deep waters.

18 He rescued me from my powerful enemies and from all those who hate me - they were too strong for me.

19 When I was in trouble, they attacked me, but the Lord protected me.

20 He helped me out of danger; he saved me because he was pleased with me.

21 The Lord rewards me because I do what is right; he blesses me because I am innocent.

22 I have obeyed the law of the Lord; I have not turned away from my God.

23 I have observed all his laws; I have not disobeyed his commands.

24 He knows that I am faultless, that I have kept myself from doing wrong.

25 And so he rewards me because I do what is right, because he knows that I am innocent.

26 O Lord, you are faithful to those who are faithful to you, and completely good to those who are perfect.

27 You are pure to those who are pure, but hostile to those who are wicked.

28 You save those who are humble, but you humble those who are proud.

29 You, Lord, are my light; you dispel my darkness.

30 You give me strength to attack my enemies and power to overcome their defenses.

31 This God - how perfect are his deeds, how dependable his words! He is like a shield for all who seek his protection.

32 The Lord alone is God; God alone is our defense.

33 This God is my strong refuge; he makes my pathway safe.

34 He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains.

35 He trains me for battle, so that I can use the strongest bow.

36 O Lord, you protect me and save me; your help has made me great.

37 You have kept me from being captured, and I have never fallen.

38 I pursue my enemies and defeat them; I do not stop until I destroy them.

39 I strike them down, and they cannot rise; they lie defeated before me.

40 You give me strength for the battle and victory over my enemies.

41 You make my enemies run from me; I destroy those who hate me.

42 They look for help, but no one saves them; they call to the Lord, but he does not answer.

43 I crush them, and they become like dust; I trample on them like mud in the streets.

44 You saved me from my rebellious people and maintained my rule over the nations; people I did not know have now become my subjects.

45 Foreigners bow before me; when they hear me, they obey.

46 They lose their courage and come trembling from their fortresses.

47 The Lord lives! Praise my defender! Proclaim the greatness of the strong God who saves me!

48 He gives me victory over my enemies; he subdues the nations under me

49 and saves me from my foes. O Lord, you give me victory over my enemies and protect me from violent men.

50 And so I praise you among the nations; I sing praises to you.

51 God gives great victories to his king; he shows constant love to the one he has chosen, to David and his descendants forever.
