2 Kings 18:1-8

RHE 1 In the third year of Osee, the son of Ela, king of Israel, reigned Ezechias, the son of Achaz, king of Juda. NIV 1 In the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. RHE 2 He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Abi, the daughter of Zacharias. NIV 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. RHE 3 And he did that which was good before the Lord, according to all that David, his father, had done NIV 3 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done. RHE 4 He destroyed the high places, and broke the statues in pieces, and cut down the groves, and broke the brazen serpent, which Moses had made: for till that time the children of Israel burnt incense to it: and he called its name Nohestan. NIV 4 He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan. ) RHE 5 He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel: so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Juda, nor any of them that were before him: NIV 5 Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. RHE 6 And he stuck to the Lord, and departed not from his steps, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses. NIV 6 He held fast to the LORD and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses. RHE 7 Wherefore the Lord also was with him, and in all things, to which he went forth, he behaved himself wisely. And he rebelled against the king of the Assyrians, and served him not. NIV 7 And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. RHE 8 He smote the Philistines as far as Gaza, and all their borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. NIV 8 From watchtower to fortified city, he defeated the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory.
