2 Peter 1:9-19

NLT 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. NIV 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. NLT 10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. NIV 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, NLT 11 Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. NIV 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. NLT 12 Therefore, I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. NIV 12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. NLT 13 And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live. NIV 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, NLT 14 For our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me that I must soon leave this earthly life, NIV 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. NLT 15 so I will work hard to make sure you always remember these things after I am gone. NIV 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. NLT 16 For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes NIV 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. NLT 17 when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” NIV 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” NLT 18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. NIV 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. NLT 19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. NIV 19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
