Deuteronomy 10

LXX 1 At that time the Lord said to me, Hew for thyself two stone tables as the first, and come up to me into the mountain, and thou shalt make for thyself an ark of wood. NIV 1 At that time the LORD said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark. LXX 2 And thou shalt write upon the tables the words which were on the first tables which thou didst break, and thou shalt put them into the ark. NIV 2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.” LXX 3 So I made an ark of boards of incorruptible wood, and I hewed tables of stone like the first, and I went up to the mountain, and the two tables were in my hand. NIV 3 So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. LXX 4 And he wrote upon the tables according to the first writing the ten commandments, which the Lord spoke to you in the mountain out of the midst of the fire, and the Lord gave them to me. NIV 4 The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me. LXX 5 And I turned and came down from the mountain, and I put the tables into the ark which I had made; and there they were, as the Lord commanded me. NIV 5 Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD commanded me, and they are there now. LXX 6 And the children of Israel departed from Beeroth of the sons of Jakim Misadai: there Aaron died, and there he was buried, and Eleazar his son was priest in his stead. NIV 6 (The Israelites traveled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and Eleazar his son succeeded him as priest. LXX 7 Thence they departed to Gadgad; and from Gadgad to Etebatha, a land torrents of water. NIV 7 From there they traveled to Gudgodah and on to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water. LXX 8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand near before the Lord, to minister and bless in his name to this day. NIV 8 At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name, as they still do today. LXX 9 Therefore the Levites have no part nor inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself their inheritance, as he said to them. NIV 9 That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the LORD is their inheritance, as the LORD your God told them.) LXX 10 And I remained in the mount forty days and forty nights: and the Lord heard me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy you. NIV 10 Now I had stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, as I did the first time, and the LORD listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you. LXX 11 And the Lord said to me, Go, set out before this people, and let them go in and inherit the land, which I sware to their fathers to give to them. NIV 11 “Go,” the LORD said to me, “and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.” LXX 12 And now, Israel, what does the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, and to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul; NIV 12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, LXX 13 to keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and his ordinances, all that I charge thee to-day, that it may be well with thee? NIV 13 and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? LXX 14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to the Lord thy God, the earth and all things that are in it. NIV 14 To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. LXX 15 Only the Lord chose your fathers to love them, and he chose out their seed after them, you, beyond all nations, as at this day. NIV 15 Yet the LORD set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today. LXX 16 Therefore ye shall circumcise the hardness of your heart, and ye shall not harden your neck. NIV 16 Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. LXX 17 For the Lord your God, he God of gods, and the Lord of lords, the great, and strong, and terrible God, who does not accept persons, nor will he by any means accept a bribe: NIV 17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. LXX 22 With seventy souls your fathers went down into Egypt; but the Lord thy God has made thee as the stars of heaven in multitude.
