Galatians 1

CEB 1 From Paul, an apostle who is not sent from human authority or commissioned through human agency, but sent through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead; NRS 1 Paul an apostle—sent neither by human commission nor from human authorities, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— CEB 2 and from all the brothers and sisters with me. To the churches in Galatia. NRS 2 and all the members of God's family who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: CEB 3 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NRS 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, CEB 4 He gave himself for our sins, so he could deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. NRS 4 who gave himself for our sins to set us free from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, CEB 5 To God be the glory forever and always! Amen. NRS 5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. CEB 6 I'm amazed that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ to follow another gospel. NRS 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— CEB 7 It's not really another gospel, but certain people are confusing you and they want to change the gospel of Christ. NRS 7 not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. CEB 8 However, even if we ourselves or a heavenly angel should ever preach anything different from what we preached to you, they should be under a curse. NRS 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let that one be accursed! CEB 9 I'm repeating what we've said before: if anyone preaches something different from what you received, they should be under a curse! NRS 9 As we have said before, so now I repeat, if anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let that one be accursed! CEB 10 Am I trying to win over human beings or God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I wouldn't be Christ's slave. NRS 10 Am I now seeking human approval, or God's approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ. CEB 11 Brothers and sisters, I want you to know that the gospel I preached isn't human in origin. NRS 11 For I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin; CEB 12 I didn't receive it or learn it from a human. It came through a revelation from Jesus Christ. NRS 12 for I did not receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. CEB 13 You heard about my previous life in Judaism, how severely I harassed God's church and tried to destroy it. NRS 13 You have heard, no doubt, of my earlier life in Judaism. I was violently persecuting the church of God and was trying to destroy it. CEB 14 I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my peers, because I was much more militant about the traditions of my ancestors. NRS 14 I advanced in Judaism beyond many among my people of the same age, for I was far more zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. CEB 15 But God had set me apart from birth and called me through his grace. He was pleased NRS 15 But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace, was pleased CEB 16 to reveal his Son to me, so that I might preach about him to the Gentiles. I didn't immediately consult with any human being. NRS 16 to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with any human being, CEB 17 I didn't go up to Jerusalem to see the men who were apostles before me either, but I went away into Arabia and I returned again to Damascus. NRS 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were already apostles before me, but I went away at once into Arabia, and afterwards I returned to Damascus. CEB 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. NRS 18 Then after three years I did go up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days; CEB 19 But I didn't see any other of the apostles except James the brother of the Lord. NRS 19 but I did not see any other apostle except James the Lord's brother. CEB 20 Before God, I'm not lying about the things that I'm writing to you! NRS 20 In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie! CEB 21 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia, NRS 21 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia, CEB 22 but I wasn't known personally by the Christian churches in Judea. NRS 22 and I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Judea that are in Christ; CEB 23 They only heard a report about me: "The man who used to harass us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy." NRS 23 they only heard it said, "The one who formerly was persecuting us is now proclaiming the faith he once tried to destroy." CEB 24 So they were glorifying God because of me. NRS 24 And they glorified God because of me.
