Hebrews 2

JUB 1 Therefore, it is necessary that we with more diligence keep the things which we have heard, so that we do not fall. NIV 1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. JUB 2 For if the word spoken by the ministry of angels was steadfast and every rebellion and disobedience received a just recompense of reward, NIV 2 For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, JUB 3 how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him, NIV 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. JUB 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders and with diverse miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, distributing them according to his own will? NIV 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. JUB 5 For unto the angels he has not subjected the world to come, of which we speak. NIV 5 It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. JUB 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou dost visit him? NIV 6 But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? JUB 7 Thou didst make him a little lower than the angels; thou didst crown him with glory and honour and didst set him over the works of thy hands. NIV 7 You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor JUB 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not see yet that all things are put under him. NIV 8 and put everything under their feet.”In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. JUB 9 But we see this same Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. NIV 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. JUB 10 For it was expedient that he, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, preparing to bring forth many sons in his glory, should perfect the author of their saving health through sufferings. NIV 10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. JUB 11 For both he that sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, NIV 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. JUB 12 saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee. NIV 12 He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.” JUB 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me. NIV 13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.”And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.” JUB 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil, NIV 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— JUB 15 and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery. NIV 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. JUB 16 For verily he did not take the angels, but he took the seed of Abraham. NIV 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. JUB 17 Therefore in all things he should be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. NIV 17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. JUB 18 For in that he himself has suffered and was tempted, he is also powerful to help those that are tempted. NIV 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
