NAS 3 'Is it right for You indeed to oppress, To reject the labor of Your hands, And to look favorably on the schemes of the wicked? NIV 3 Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked? NAS 4 'Have You eyes of flesh? Or do You see as a man sees? NIV 4 Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as a mortal sees? NAS 5 'Are Your days as the days of a mortal, Or Your years as man's years, NIV 5 Are your days like those of a mortal or your years like those of a strong man, NAS 6 That You should seek for my guilt And search after my sin? NIV 6 that you must search out my faults and probe after my sin— NAS 7 'According to Your knowledge I am indeed not guilty, Yet there is no deliverance from Your hand. NIV 7 though you know that I am not guilty and that no one can rescue me from your hand? NAS 8 'Your hands fashioned and made me altogether , And would You destroy me? NIV 8 “Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? NAS 9 'Remember now, that You have made me as clay; And would You turn me into dust again? NIV 12 You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit. NAS 13 'Yet these things You have concealed in Your heart; I know that this is within You: NIV 13 “But this is what you concealed in your heart, and I know that this was in your mind: NAS 14 If I sin, then You would take note of me, And would not acquit me of my guilt. NIV 14 If I sinned, you would be watching me and would not let my offense go unpunished. NAS 15 'If I am wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am sated with disgrace and conscious of my misery. NIV 15 If I am guilty—woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction. NAS 16 'Should my head be lifted up, You would hunt me like a lion; And again You would show Your power against me. NIV 16 If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion and again display your awesome power against me. NAS 17 'You renew Your witnesses against me And increase Your anger toward me; Hardship after hardship is with me. NIV 17 You bring new witnesses against me and increase your anger toward me; your forces come against me wave upon wave. NAS 18 'Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Would that I had died and no eye had seen me! NIV 18 “Why then did you bring me out of the womb? I wish I had died before any eye saw me. NAS 19 'I should have been as though I had not been, Carried from womb to tomb.' NIV 19 If only I had never come into being, or had been carried straight from the womb to the grave! NAS 20 "Would He not let my few days alone? Withdraw from me that I may have a little cheer NIV 20 Are not my few days almost over? Turn away from me so I can have a moment’s joy NAS 21 Before I go -and I shall not return - To the land of darkness and deep shadow, NIV 21 before I go to the place of no return, to the land of gloom and utter darkness, NAS 22 The land of utter gloom as darkness itself, Of deep shadow without order, And which shines as the darkness." NIV 22 to the land of deepest night, of utter darkness and disorder, where even the light is like darkness.”
