Job 23

GNTA 1 I still rebel and complain against God; NIV 1 Then Job replied: GNTA 2 I cannot keep from groaning. NIV 2 “Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning. GNTA 3 How I wish I knew where to find him, and knew how to go where he is. NIV 3 If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling! GNTA 4 I would state my case before him and present all the arguments in my favor NIV 4 I would state my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments. GNTA 5 I want to know what he would say and how he would answer me. NIV 5 I would find out what he would answer me, and consider what he would say to me. GNTA 6 Would God use all his strength against me? No, he would listen as I spoke. NIV 6 Would he vigorously oppose me? No, he would not press charges against me. GNTA 7 I am honest; I could reason with God; he would declare me innocent once and for all. NIV 7 There the upright can establish their innocence before him, and there I would be delivered forever from my judge. GNTA 8 I have searched in the East, but God is not there; I have not found him when I searched in the West. NIV 8 “But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him. GNTA 9 God has been at work in the North and the South, but still I have not seen him. NIV 9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him. GNTA 10 Yet God knows every step I take; if he tests me, he will find me pure. NIV 10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. GNTA 11 I follow faithfully the road he chooses, and never wander to either side. NIV 11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside. GNTA 12 I always do what God commands; I follow his will, not my own desires. NIV 12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. GNTA 13 He never changes. No one can oppose him or stop him from doing what he wants to do. NIV 13 “But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases. GNTA 14 He will fulfill what he has planned for me; that plan is just one of the many he has NIV 14 He carries out his decree against me, and many such plans he still has in store. GNTA 15 I tremble with fear before him. NIV 15 That is why I am terrified before him; when I think of all this, I fear him. GNTA 16 Almighty God has destroyed my courage. It is God, not the dark, that makes me afraid - even though the darkness has made me blind. NIV 16 God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me.
