John 10

NKJV 1 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. NIV 1 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. NKJV 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. NIV 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. NKJV 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. NIV 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. NKJV 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. NIV 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. NKJV 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." NIV 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” NKJV 6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them. NIV 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. NKJV 7 Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. NIV 7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. NKJV 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. NIV 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. NKJV 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. NIV 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. NKJV 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. NIV 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. NKJV 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. NIV 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. NKJV 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. NIV 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. NKJV 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. NIV 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. NKJV 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. NIV 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— NKJV 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. NIV 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. NKJV 16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. NIV 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. NKJV 17 Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. NIV 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. NKJV 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." NIV 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” NKJV 19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. NIV 19 The Jews who heard these words were again divided. NKJV 20 And many of them said, "He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?" NIV 20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?” NKJV 21 Others said, "These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?" NIV 21 But others said, “These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?” NKJV 22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. NIV 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, NKJV 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch. NIV 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. NKJV 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." NIV 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” NKJV 25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me. NIV 25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, NKJV 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. NIV 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. NKJV 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. NIV 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. NKJV 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. NIV 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. NKJV 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. NIV 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. NKJV 30 I and My Father are one." NIV 30 I and the Father are one.” NKJV 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. NIV 31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, NKJV 32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?" NIV 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” NKJV 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God." NIV 33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” NKJV 34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, "You are gods" '? NIV 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’? NKJV 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), NIV 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— NKJV 36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? NIV 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? NKJV 37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; NIV 37 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. NKJV 38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him." NIV 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” NKJV 39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand. NIV 39 Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. NKJV 40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed. NIV 40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, NKJV 41 Then many came to Him and said, "John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true." NIV 41 and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true.” NKJV 42 And many believed in Him there. NIV 42 And in that place many believed in Jesus.
