Leviticus 24

NAS 1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, NAS 2 "Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you clear oil from beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually. NIV 2 “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. NAS 3 "Outside the veil of testimony in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations. NIV 3 Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the LORD from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. NAS 4 "He shall keep the lamps in order on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD continually. NIV 4 The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD must be tended continually. NAS 5 "Then you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake. NIV 5 “Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of an ephah for each loaf. NAS 6 "You shall set them in two rows, six to a row, on the pure gold table before the LORD . NIV 6 Arrange them in two stacks, six in each stack, on the table of pure gold before the LORD. NAS 7 "You shall put pure frankincense on each row that it may be a memorial portion for the bread, even an offering by fire to the LORD . NIV 7 By each stack put some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the LORD. NAS 8 "Every sabbath day he shall set it in order before the LORD continually; it is an everlasting covenant for the sons of Israel. NIV 8 This bread is to be set out before the LORD regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. NAS 9 "It shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the LORD'S offerings by fire, his portion forever." NIV 9 It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in the sanctuary area, because it is a most holy part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the LORD.” NAS 10 Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel struggled with each other in the camp. NIV 10 Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. NAS 11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) NIV 11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.) NAS 12 They put him in custody so that the command of the LORD might be made clear to them. NIV 12 They put him in custody until the will of the LORD should be made clear to them. NAS 13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, NIV 13 Then the LORD said to Moses: NAS 14 "Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then let all the congregation stone him. NIV 14 “Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. NAS 15 "You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin. NIV 15 Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; NAS 16 'Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. NIV 16 anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. NAS 17 'If a man takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death. NIV 17 “ ‘Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death. NAS 18 'The one who takes the life of an animal shall make it good, life for life. NIV 18 Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution—life for life. NAS 19 'If a man injures his neighbor, just as he has done, so it shall be done to him: NIV 19 Anyone who injures their neighbor is to be injured in the same manner: NAS 20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has injured a man, so it shall be inflicted on him. NIV 20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury. NAS 21 'Thus the one who kills an animal shall make it good, but the one who kills a man shall be put to death. NIV 21 Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death. NAS 22 'There shall be one standard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am the LORD your God.' " NIV 22 You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.’ ” NAS 23 Then Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought the one who had cursed outside the camp and stoned him with stones. Thus the sons of Israel did, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. NIV 23 Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the LORD commanded Moses.
