NIV 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. SBLGNT 23 καὶ εὐθὺς ἦν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ αὐτῶν ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ καὶ ἀνέκραξεν NIV 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, SBLGNT 24 λέγων · Τί ἡμῖν καὶ σοί, Ἰησοῦ Ναζαρηνέ; ἦλθες ἀπολέσαι ἡμᾶς; οἶδά σε τίς εἶ, ὁ ἅγιος τοῦ θεοῦ. NIV 27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” NIV 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. NIV 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. NIV 33 The whole town gathered at the door, SBLGNT 34 καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν πολλοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας ποικίλαις νόσοις, καὶ δαιμόνια πολλὰ ἐξέβαλεν, καὶ οὐκ ἤφιεν λαλεῖν τὰ δαιμόνια, ὅτι ᾔδεισαν αὐτόν. NIV 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was. NIV 35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. SBLGNT 36 καὶ κατεδίωξεν αὐτὸν Σίμων καὶ οἱ μετ’ αὐτοῦ, NIV 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, SBLGNT 37 καὶ εὗρον αὐτὸν καὶ ⸃ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ ὅτι Πάντες ζητοῦσίν σε. NIV 38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” NIV 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. NIV 40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” NIV 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. SBLGNT 43 καὶ ἐμβριμησάμενος αὐτῷ εὐθὺς ἐξέβαλεν αὐτόν, NIV 43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: SBLGNT 44 καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ · Ὅρα μηδενὶ μηδὲν εἴπῃς, ἀλλὰ ὕπαγε σεαυτὸν δεῖξον τῷ ἱερεῖ καὶ προσένεγκε περὶ τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ σου ἃ προσέταξεν Μωϋσῆς εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς. NIV 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” NIV 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
