NRS 36 David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared, "The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet." ' CEB 37 David himself calls him ‘Lord,' so how can he be David's son?" The large crowd listened to him with delight. NRS 37 David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?" And the large crowd was listening to him with delight. CEB 38 As he was teaching, he said, "Watch out for the legal experts. They like to walk around in long robes. They want to be greeted with honor in the markets. NRS 38 As he taught, he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, CEB 39 They long for places of honor in the synagogues and at banquets. NRS 39 and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! CEB 40 They are the ones who cheat widows out of their homes, and to show off they say long prayers. They will be judged most harshly." NRS 40 They devour widows' houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation." CEB 41 Jesus sat across from the collection box for the temple treasury and observed how the crowd gave their money. Many rich people were throwing in lots of money. NRS 41 He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. CEB 42 One poor widow came forward and put in two small copper coins worth a penny. NRS 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny.
