Mark 3

SBLGNT 1 Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πάλιν εἰς συναγωγήν, καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος ἐξηραμμένην ἔχων τὴν χεῖρα. NIV 1 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. SBLGNT 2 καὶ παρετήρουν αὐτὸν εἰ τοῖς σάββασιν θεραπεύσει αὐτόν, ἵνα κατηγορήσωσιν αὐτοῦ. NIV 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. SBLGNT 3 καὶ λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ τὴν χεῖρα ἔχοντι ξηράν ⸃· Ἔγειρε εἰς τὸ μέσον. NIV 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.” SBLGNT 4 καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · Ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθοποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι, ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀποκτεῖναι; οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων. NIV 4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent. SBLGNT 5 καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ’ ὀργῆς, συλλυπούμενος ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν, λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ · Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρα · καὶ ἐξέτεινεν, καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ. NIV 5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. SBLGNT 6 καὶ ἐξελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι εὐθὺς μετὰ τῶν Ἡρῳδιανῶν συμβούλιον ἐδίδουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν. NIV 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus. SBLGNT 7 Καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀνεχώρησεν ⸃ πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν · καὶ πολὺ πλῆθος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ἠκολούθησεν, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας NIV 7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. SBLGNT 8 καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ περὶ Τύρον καὶ Σιδῶνα, πλῆθος πολύ, ἀκούοντες ὅσα ἐποίει ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτόν. NIV 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. SBLGNT 9 καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα πλοιάριον προσκαρτερῇ αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἵνα μὴ θλίβωσιν αὐτόν · NIV 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. SBLGNT 10 πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐθεράπευσεν, ὥστε ἐπιπίπτειν αὐτῷ ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται ὅσοι εἶχον μάστιγας. NIV 10 For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. SBLGNT 11 καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα, ὅταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρουν, προσέπιπτον ⸃ αὐτῷ καὶ ἔκραζον λέγοντα ὅτι Σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ. NIV 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” SBLGNT 12 καὶ πολλὰ ἐπετίμα αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ αὐτὸν φανερὸν ⸃ ποιήσωσιν. NIV 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him. SBLGNT 13 Καὶ ἀναβαίνει εἰς τὸ ὄρος καὶ προσκαλεῖται οὓς ἤθελεν αὐτός, καὶ ἀπῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν. NIV 13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. SBLGNT 14 καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα, ἵνα ὦσιν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν NIV 14 He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach SBLGNT 15 καὶ ἔχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια · NIV 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. SBLGNT 16 καὶ ἐποίησεν τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ⸃ ἐπέθηκεν ὄνομα τῷ Σίμωνι ⸃ Πέτρον, NIV 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), SBLGNT 17 καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Ἰακώβου καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα Βοανηργές, ὅ ἐστιν Υἱοὶ Βροντῆς ), NIV 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), SBLGNT 18 καὶ Ἀνδρέαν καὶ Φίλιππον καὶ Βαρθολομαῖον καὶ Μαθθαῖον καὶ Θωμᾶν καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καὶ Θαδδαῖον καὶ Σίμωνα τὸν Καναναῖον NIV 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot SBLGNT 19 καὶ Ἰούδαν Ἰσκαριώθ, ὃς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτόν. NIV 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. SBLGNT 20 Καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς οἶκον · καὶ συνέρχεται πάλιν ὁ ὄχλος, ὥστε μὴ δύνασθαι αὐτοὺς μηδὲ ἄρτον φαγεῖν. NIV 20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. SBLGNT 21 καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ παρ’ αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθον κρατῆσαι αὐτόν, ἔλεγον γὰρ ὅτι ἐξέστη. NIV 21 When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” SBLGNT 22 καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβάντες ἔλεγον ὅτι Βεελζεβοὺλ ἔχει καὶ ὅτι ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια. NIV 22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.” SBLGNT 23 καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐν παραβολαῖς ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς · Πῶς δύναται Σατανᾶς Σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλειν; NIV 23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? SBLGNT 24 καὶ ἐὰν βασιλεία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι ἡ βασιλεία ἐκείνη · NIV 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. SBLGNT 25 καὶ ἐὰν οἰκία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δυνήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἐκείνη σταθῆναι ⸃· NIV 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. SBLGNT 26 καὶ εἰ ὁ Σατανᾶς ἀνέστη ἐφ’ ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἐμερίσθη, οὐ δύναται στῆναι ἀλλὰ τέλος ἔχει. NIV 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. SBLGNT 27 ἀλλ’ οὐδεὶς δύναται ⸃ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ εἰσελθὼν τὰ σκεύη ⸃ αὐτοῦ διαρπάσαι ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον τὸν ἰσχυρὸν δήσῃ, καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσει. NIV 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. SBLGNT 28 Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πάντα ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων, τὰ ἁμαρτήματα ⸃ καὶ αἱ βλασφημίαι ὅσα ἐὰν ⸃ βλασφημήσωσιν · NIV 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, SBLGNT 29 ὃς δ’ ἂν βλασφημήσῃ εἰς τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον, οὐκ ἔχει ἄφεσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλὰ ἔνοχός ἐστιν αἰωνίου ἁμαρτήματος. NIV 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” SBLGNT 30 ὅτι ἔλεγον · Πνεῦμα ἀκάθαρτον ἔχει. NIV 30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.” SBLGNT 31 Καὶ ἔρχονται ⸃ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ ⸃ καὶ ἔξω στήκοντες ἀπέστειλαν πρὸς αὐτὸν καλοῦντες αὐτόν. NIV 31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. SBLGNT 32 καὶ ἐκάθητο περὶ αὐτὸν ὄχλος, καὶ λέγουσιν ⸃ αὐτῷ · Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ζητοῦσίν σε. NIV 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.” SBLGNT 33 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτοῖς λέγει ⸃· Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου ἢ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου; NIV 33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked. SBLGNT 34 καὶ περιβλεψάμενος τοὺς περὶ αὐτὸν κύκλῳ ⸃ καθημένους λέγει · Ἴδε ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου · NIV 34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! SBLGNT 35 ὃς γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ θεοῦ, οὗτος ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν. NIV 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
