Romans 6:1-11

NLT 1 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? NIV 1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? NLT 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? NIV 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? NLT 3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? NIV 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? NLT 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. NIV 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. NLT 5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. NIV 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. NLT 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. NIV 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— NLT 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. NIV 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. NLT 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. NIV 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. NLT 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. NIV 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. NLT 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. NIV 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. NLT 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. NIV 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
