Acts 3:1-10

ESV 1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. MSG 1 One day at three o'clock in the afternoon, Peter and John were on their way into the Temple for prayer meeting. ESV 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. MSG 2 At the same time there was a man crippled from birth being carried up. Every day he was set down at the Temple gate, the one named Beautiful, to beg from those going into the Temple. ESV 3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. MSG 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter the Temple, he asked for a handout. ESV 4 And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." MSG 4 Peter, with John at his side, looked him straight in the eye and said, "Look here." ESV 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. MSG 5 He looked up, expecting to get something from them. ESV 6 But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" MSG 6 Peter said, "I don't have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!" ESV 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. MSG 7 He grabbed him by the right hand and pulled him up. In an instant his feet and ankles became firm. ESV 8 And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. MSG 8 He jumped to his feet and walked. ESV 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, MSG 9 Everybody there saw him walking around and praising God. ESV 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. MSG 10 They recognized him as the one who sat begging at the Temple's Gate Beautiful and rubbed their eyes, astonished, scarcely believing what they were seeing.
