Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.
6 Las multitudes escuchaban atentamente a Felipe, porque estaban deseosas de oír el mensaje y ver las señales milagrosas que él hacía.

When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.
7 Muchos espíritus malignos<br /> fueron expulsados, los cuales gritaban cuando salían de sus víctimas; y muchos que habían sido paralíticos o cojos fueron sanados.

For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
8 Así que hubo mucha alegría en esa ciudad.

So there was great joy in that city.
9 Un hombre llamado Simón, quien por muchos años había sido hechicero allí, asombraba a la gente de Samaria y decía ser alguien importante.

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,
10 Todos, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, a menudo se referían a él como «el Grande, el Poder de Dios».

and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.”

They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery.
12 Pero ahora la gente creyó el mensaje de Felipe sobre la Buena Noticia acerca del reino de Dios y del nombre de Jesucristo. Como resultado, se bautizaron muchos hombres y mujeres.

But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Luego el mismo Simón creyó y fue bautizado. Comenzó a seguir a Felipe a todos los lugares adonde él iba y estaba asombrado por las señales y los grandes milagros que Felipe hacía.

Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.
14 Cuando los apóstoles de Jerusalén oyeron que la gente de Samaria había aceptado el mensaje de Dios, enviaron a Pedro y a Juan allá.

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria.
15 En cuanto ellos llegaron, oraron por los nuevos creyentes para que recibieran el Espíritu Santo.

When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
16 El Espíritu Santo todavía no había venido sobre ninguno de ellos porque solo habían sido bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús.

because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Entonces Pedro y Juan impusieron sus manos sobre esos creyentes, y recibieron el Espíritu Santo.

Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Cuando Simón vio que el Espíritu se recibía cuando los apóstoles imponían sus manos sobre la gente, les ofreció dinero para comprar ese poder.

When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money
19 —Déjenme tener este poder también —exclamó—, para que, cuando yo imponga mis manos sobre las personas, ¡reciban el Espíritu Santo!

and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Pedro le respondió:<br />—¡Que tu dinero se destruya junto contigo por pensar que es posible comprar el don de Dios!

Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!
21 Tú no tienes parte ni derecho en esto porque tu corazón no es recto delante de Dios.

You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
22 Arrepiéntete de tu maldad y ora al Señor. Tal vez él perdone tus malos pensamientos,

Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.
23 porque puedo ver que estás lleno de una profunda envidia y que el pecado te tiene cautivo.

For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
24 —¡Oren al Señor por mí! —exclamó Simón—. ¡Que no me sucedan estas cosas terribles que has dicho!

Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
25 Después de dar testimonio y predicar la palabra del Señor en Samaria, Pedro y Juan regresaron a Jerusalén. Por el camino, se detuvieron en muchas aldeas samaritanas para predicar la Buena Noticia.

After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.
26 Felipe y el eunuco etíope<br />En cuanto a Felipe, un ángel del Señor le dijo: «Ve al sur<br /> por el camino del desierto que va de Jerusalén a Gaza».

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”
27 Entonces él emprendió su viaje y se encontró con el tesorero de Etiopía, un eunuco de mucha autoridad bajo el mando de Candace, la reina de Etiopía. El eunuco había ido a Jerusalén a adorar

So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
28 y ahora venía de regreso. Sentado en su carruaje, leía en voz alta el libro del profeta Isaías.

and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet.
29 El Espíritu Santo le dijo a Felipe: «Acércate y camina junto al carruaje».

The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Felipe se acercó corriendo y oyó que el hombre leía al profeta Isaías. Felipe le preguntó:<br />—¿Entiendes lo que estás leyendo?

Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 El hombre contestó:<br />—¿Y cómo puedo entenderlo, a menos que alguien me explique?<br />Y le rogó a Felipe que subiera al carruaje y se sentara junto a él.

“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 El pasaje de la Escritura que leía era el siguiente:<br />«Como oveja fue llevado al matadero.<br />Y, como cordero en silencio ante sus trasquiladores,<br />no abrió su boca.

This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
33 Fue humillado y no le hicieron justicia.<br />¿Quién puede hablar de sus descendientes?<br />Pues su vida fue quitada de la tierra»<br />.

In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”
34 El eunuco le preguntó a Felipe: «Dime, ¿hablaba el profeta acerca de sí mismo o de alguien más?».

The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?”
35 Entonces, comenzando con esa misma porción de la Escritura, Felipe le habló de la Buena Noticia acerca de Jesús.

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
36 Mientras iban juntos, llegaron a un lugar donde había agua, y el eunuco dijo: «¡Mira, allí hay agua! ¿Qué impide que yo sea bautizado?»<br />.

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized? ”

38 Ordenó que detuvieran el carruaje, descendieron al agua, y Felipe lo bautizó.

And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.
39 Cuando salieron del agua, el Espíritu del Señor arrebató a Felipe. El eunuco nunca más volvió a verlo, pero siguió su camino con mucha alegría.

When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
40 Entre tanto, Felipe se encontró más al norte, en la ciudad de Azoto. Predicó la Buena Noticia allí y en cada pueblo a lo largo del camino, hasta que llegó a Cesarea.

Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
