1 La bestia que sale del mar<br />Después vi a una bestia que subía del mar. Tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos, y una corona en cada cuerno; y escrito en cada cabeza había nombres que blasfemaban a Dios.

2 Esta bestia se parecía a un leopardo, ¡pero tenía las patas de un oso y la boca de un león! Y el dragón le dio a la bestia su propio poder y trono y gran autoridad.

3 Vi que una de las cabezas de la bestia parecía estar herida de muerte, ¡pero la herida mortal sanó! Todo el mundo se maravilló de este milagro y dio lealtad a la bestia.

4 Adoraron al dragón por haberle dado semejante poder a la bestia y también adoraron a la bestia. «¿Quién es tan grande como la bestia? —exclamaban—, ¿quién puede luchar contra ella?».

5 A la bestia se le permitió decir grandes blasfemias contra Dios, y se le dio autoridad para hacer todo lo que quisiera durante cuarenta y dos meses.

6 Y abrió la boca con terribles blasfemias contra Dios, maldiciendo su nombre y su habitación, es decir a los que habitan en el cielo.

7 Además se le permitió a la bestia hacer guerra contra el pueblo santo de Dios y conquistarlo; y se le dio autoridad para gobernar sobre todo pueblo y toda tribu, lengua y nación.

8 Y adoraron a la bestia todos los que pertenecen a este mundo cuyos nombres no estaban escritos en el libro de la vida antes de la creación del mundo, el libro que le pertenece al Cordero, que fue sacrificado.

9 Todo el que tenga oídos para oír<br />debe escuchar y entender.

10 Todo el que esté destinado a la cárcel,<br />a la cárcel será llevado.<br />Todo el que esté destinado a morir a espada,<br />morirá a filo de espada.<br />Esto significa que el pueblo de Dios tiene que soportar la persecución con paciencia y permanecer fiel.

11 La bestia que sale de la tierra<br />Luego vi a otra bestia; esta salía de la tierra. Tenía dos cuernos como los de un cordero, pero hablaba con la voz de un dragón.

12 Ejercía toda la autoridad de la primera bestia y exigía que toda la tierra y sus habitantes adoraran a la primera bestia, la que se había recuperado de su herida mortal.

13 Hacía milagros asombrosos, incluso que cayera fuego del cielo a la tierra mientras todos observaban.

14 Con los milagros que se le permitió hacer en nombre de la primera bestia, engañó a todos los que pertenecen a este mundo. Les ordenó que hicieran una gran estatua de la primera bestia, la que estaba herida de muerte y después volvió a la vida.

15 Luego se le permitió dar vida a esa estatua para que pudiera hablar. Entonces la estatua de la bestia ordenó que todo el que se negara a adorarla debía morir.

16 Además exigió que a todos —pequeños y grandes; ricos y pobres; libres y esclavos— se les pusiera una marca en la mano derecha o en la frente.

17 Y nadie podía comprar ni vender nada sin tener esa marca, que era el nombre de la bestia o bien el número que representa su nombre.

18 Aquí se requiere sabiduría. El que tenga entendimiento, que resuelva el significado del número de la bestia, porque es el número de un hombre.<br /> Su número es 666.

New International Version NIV

1 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.

3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.

4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.

6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.

7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.

8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

10 “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.”This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.

11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.

12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.

13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people.

14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.

16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,

17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.
