1 Vivir en la luz<br />Por lo tanto, imiten a Dios en todo lo que hagan porque ustedes son sus hijos queridos.

2 Vivan una vida llena de amor, siguiendo el ejemplo de Cristo. Él nos amó<br /> y se ofreció a sí mismo como sacrificio por nosotros, como aroma agradable a Dios.

3 Que no haya ninguna inmoralidad sexual, impureza ni avaricia entre ustedes. Tales pecados no tienen lugar en el pueblo de Dios.

4 Los cuentos obscenos, las conversaciones necias y los chistes groseros no son para ustedes. En cambio, que haya una actitud de agradecimiento a Dios.

5 Pueden estar seguros de que ninguna persona inmoral, impura o avara heredará el reino de Cristo y de Dios. Pues el avaro es un idólatra, que adora las cosas de este mundo.

6 No se dejen engañar por los que tratan de justificar esos pecados, porque el enojo de Dios caerá sobre todos los que lo desobedecen.

7 No participen en las cosas que hace esa gente.

8 Pues antes ustedes estaban llenos de oscuridad, pero ahora tienen la luz que proviene del Señor. Por lo tanto, ¡vivan como gente de luz!

9 Pues esa luz que está dentro de ustedes produce solo cosas buenas, rectas y verdaderas.

10 Averigüen bien lo que agrada al Señor.

11 No participen en las obras inútiles de la maldad y la oscuridad; al contrario, sáquenlas a la luz.

12 Es vergonzoso siquiera hablar de las cosas que la gente malvada hace en secreto.

13 No obstante, sus malas intenciones se descubrirán cuando la luz las ilumine,

14 porque la luz hace todo visible. Por eso se dice:<br />«Despiértate tú que duermes,<br />levántate de los muertos,<br />y Cristo te dará luz».

15 Vivir por el poder del Espíritu<br />Así que tengan cuidado de cómo viven. No vivan como necios sino como sabios.

16 Saquen el mayor provecho de cada oportunidad en estos días malos.

17 No actúen sin pensar, más bien procuren entender lo que el Señor quiere que hagan.

18 No se emborrachen con vino, porque eso les arruinará la vida. En cambio, sean llenos del Espíritu Santo

19 cantando salmos e himnos y canciones espirituales entre ustedes, y haciendo música al Señor en el corazón.

20 Y den gracias por todo a Dios el Padre en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

21 Relaciones guiadas por el Espíritu: el matrimonio<br />Es más, sométanse unos a otros por reverencia a Cristo.

22 Para las esposas, eso significa: sométase cada una a su marido como al Señor,

23 porque el marido es la cabeza de su esposa como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia. Él es el Salvador de su cuerpo, que es la iglesia.

24 Así como la iglesia se somete a Cristo, de igual manera la esposa debe someterse en todo a su marido.

25 Para los maridos, eso significa: ame cada uno a su esposa tal como Cristo amó a la iglesia. Él entregó su vida por ella

26 a fin de hacerla santa y limpia al lavarla mediante la purificación de la palabra de Dios.

27 Lo hizo para presentársela a sí mismo como una iglesia gloriosa, sin mancha ni arruga ni ningún otro defecto. Será, en cambio, santa e intachable.

28 De la misma manera, el marido debe amar a su esposa como ama a su propio cuerpo. Pues un hombre que ama a su esposa en realidad demuestra que se ama a sí mismo.

29 Nadie odia su propio cuerpo, sino que lo alimenta y lo cuida tal como Cristo lo hace por la iglesia.

30 Y nosotros somos miembros de su cuerpo.

31 Como dicen las Escrituras: «El hombre deja a su padre y a su madre, y se une a su esposa, y los dos se convierten en uno solo»<br />.

32 Eso es un gran misterio, pero ilustra la manera en que Cristo y la iglesia son uno.

33 Por eso les repito: cada hombre debe amar a su esposa como se ama a sí mismo, y la esposa debe respetar a su marido.

1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children

2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light

9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)

10 and find out what pleases the Lord.

11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

14 This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,

16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,

20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,

27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—

30 for we are members of his body.

31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.

33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
