Ephesians 4:18-32

NLT 18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. NIV 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. NLT 19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity. NIV 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. NLT 20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. NIV 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned NLT 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, NIV 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. NLT 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. NIV 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; NLT 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. NIV 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; NLT 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. NIV 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. NLT 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. NIV 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. NLT 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, NIV 26 “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, NLT 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. NIV 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. NLT 28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. NIV 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. NLT 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. NIV 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. NLT 30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. NIV 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. NLT 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. NIV 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. NLT 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. NIV 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
