Exodus 2:19-25

NRSA 19 They said, "An Egyptian helped us against the shepherds; he even drew water for us and watered the flock." NIV 19 They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.” NRSA 20 He said to his daughters, "Where is he? Why did you leave the man? Invite him to break bread." NIV 20 “And where is he?” Reuel asked his daughters. “Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.” NRSA 21 Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah in marriage. NIV 21 Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. NRSA 22 She bore a son, and he named him Gershom; for he said, "I have been an alien residing in a foreign land." NIV 22 Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.” NRSA 23 After a long time the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned under their slavery, and cried out. Out of the slavery their cry for help rose up to God. NIV 23 During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. NRSA 24 God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. NIV 24 God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. NRSA 25 God looked upon the Israelites, and God took notice of them. NIV 25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
