Ezekiel 10

JUB 1 Then I looked, and, behold, above the heaven that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. NIV 1 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim. JUB 2 And he spoke to the man clothed with linen and said, Go in between the wheels under the cherubim and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in, in my sight. NIV 2 The LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in. JUB 3 Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house when this man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court. NIV 3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. JUB 4 And the glory of the LORD had gone up from the cherubim to the threshold of the door, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory. NIV 4 Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple. The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the LORD. JUB 5 And the thunder of the cherubim’s wings was heard even to the outer court as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks. NIV 5 The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. JUB 6 And it came to pass that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim; then he went in and stood among the wheels. NIV 6 When the LORD commanded the man in linen, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel. JUB 7 And one cherubim stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim and took thereof and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen, who took it and went out. NIV 7 Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire that was among them. He took up some of it and put it into the hands of the man in linen, who took it and went out. JUB 8 And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings. NIV 8 (Under the wings of the cherubim could be seen what looked like human hands.) JUB 9 And when I looked, behold, four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by each cherubim; and the colour of the wheels was as a stone of Tarsis or beryl. NIV 9 I looked, and I saw beside the cherubim four wheels, one beside each of the cherubim; the wheels sparkled like topaz. JUB 10 And as for their appearance, the four were the same, as if one were in the midst of another. NIV 10 As for their appearance, the four of them looked alike; each was like a wheel intersecting a wheel. JUB 11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they did not turn as they went, but to the place where the first one went, they followed it; they did not turn as they went. NIV 11 As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced; the wheels did not turn about as the cherubim went. The cherubim went in whatever direction the head faced, without turning as they went. JUB 12 And all their flesh and their ribs and their hands and their wings and the wheels: they were full of eyes round about in their four wheels. NIV 12 Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes, as were their four wheels. JUB 13 To the wheels, it was shouted unto them in my hearing, Roll! NIV 13 I heard the wheels being called “the whirling wheels.” JUB 14 And each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherubim; the second face was the face of a man; the third the face of a lion; the fourth the face of an eagle. NIV 14 Each of the cherubim had four faces: One face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a human being, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. JUB 15 And the cherubim rose up. These are the living creatures that I saw by the river of Chebar. NIV 15 Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures I had seen by the Kebar River. JUB 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went with them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them. NIV 16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side. JUB 17 When they stood still, these stood still; and when they lifted up themselves, these lifted up themselves also; for the spirit of the living creatures was in them. NIV 17 When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; and when the cherubim rose, they rose with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them. JUB 18 And the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim. NIV 18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim. JUB 19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight; when they went out, the wheels also were in front of them, and they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. NIV 19 While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. JUB 20 These were the living creatures that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. NIV 20 These were the living creatures I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the Kebar River, and I realized that they were cherubim. JUB 21 Each one had four faces, and each one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. NIV 21 Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings was what looked like human hands. JUB 22 And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearance and their being; each one went straight in the direction they were facing. NIV 22 Their faces had the same appearance as those I had seen by the Kebar River. Each one went straight ahead.
