1 The word of the LORD came to me:

2 “Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.

3 They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.

4 The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

5 “Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians—warriors

6 clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen.

7 She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after.

8 She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her.

9 “Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted.

10 They stripped her naked, took away her sons and daughters and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and punishment was inflicted on her.

11 “Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister.

12 She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men.

13 I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way.

14 “But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans portrayed in red,

15 with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.

16 As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

17 Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.

18 When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.

19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.

20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.

22 “Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side—

23 the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, all of them governors and commanders, chariot officers and men of high rank, all mounted on horses.

24 They will come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons and with a throng of people; they will take up positions against you on every side with large and small shields and with helmets. I will turn you over to them for punishment, and they will punish you according to their standards.

25 I will direct my jealous anger against you, and they will deal with you in fury. They will cut off your noses and your ears, and those of you who are left will fall by the sword. They will take away your sons and daughters, and those of you who are left will be consumed by fire.

26 They will also strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry.

27 So I will put a stop to the lewdness and prostitution you began in Egypt. You will not look on these things with longing or remember Egypt anymore.

28 “For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to deliver you into the hands of those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.

29 They will deal with you in hatred and take away everything you have worked for. They will leave you stark naked, and the shame of your prostitution will be exposed. Your lewdness and promiscuity

30 have brought this on you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols.

31 You have gone the way of your sister; so I will put her cup into your hand.

32 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup large and deep; it will bring scorn and derision, for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, the cup of ruin and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will drink it and drain it dry and chew on its pieces— and you will tear your breasts. I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

35 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.”

36 The LORD said to me: “Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then confront them with their detestable practices,

37 for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them.

38 They have also done this to me: At that same time they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths.

39 On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.

40 “They even sent messengers for men who came from far away, and when they arrived you bathed yourself for them, applied eye makeup and put on your jewelry.

41 You sat on an elegant couch, with a table spread before it on which you had placed the incense and olive oil that belonged to me.

42 “The noise of a carefree crowd was around her; drunkards were brought from the desert along with men from the rabble, and they put bracelets on the wrists of the woman and her sister and beautiful crowns on their heads.

43 Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now let them use her as a prostitute, for that is all she is.’

44 And they slept with her. As men sleep with a prostitute, so they slept with those lewd women, Oholah and Oholibah.

45 But righteous judges will sentence them to the punishment of women who commit adultery and shed blood, because they are adulterous and blood is on their hands.

46 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Bring a mob against them and give them over to terror and plunder.

47 The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.

48 “So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you.

49 You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.”

1 El SEÑOR me dirigió la palabra:

2 «Hijo de hombre, te cuento que había dos mujeres, hijas de una misma madre.

3 Desde jóvenes se dejaron manosear los senos; en Egipto se prostituyeron y dejaron que les acariciaran sus pechos virginales.

4 La mayor se llamaba Aholá, y la menor, Aholibá. Me uní a ellas, y me dieron hijos e hijas. (Aholá representa a Samaria, y su hermana Aholibá, a Jerusalén.)

5 Mientras Aholá me pertenecía, me fue infiel y se enamoró perdidamente de sus amantes los asirios,

6 todos ellos guerreros vestidos de púrpura, gobernadores y oficiales, jóvenes apuestos y hábiles jinetes.

7 Como una prostituta, se entregó a lo mejor de los asirios; se contaminó con todos los ídolos que pertenecían a sus amantes.

8 Jamás abandonó la prostitución que había comenzado a practicar en Egipto. Desde su juventud, fueron muchos los que se acostaron con ella; fueron muchos los que acariciaron sus pechos virginales y se apasionaron con ella.

9 Por eso la entregué en manos de sus amantes, los asirios, con quienes ella se apasionó.

10 Y ellos la desnudaron, le quitaron sus hijos y sus hijas, y a ella la mataron a filo de espada. Fue tal el castigo que ella recibió, que su caso se volvió una advertencia para las mujeres.

11 »Aunque su hermana Aholibá vio esto, dio rienda suelta a sus pasiones y se prostituyó aún más que su hermana.

12 Ella también se enamoró perdidamente de los asirios, todos ellos gobernadores y oficiales, guerreros vestidos con mucho lujo, hábiles jinetes, y jóvenes muy apuestos.

13 Yo pude darme cuenta de que ella se había contaminado y seguido el ejemplo de su hermana.

14 Pero Aholibá llevó más allá sus prostituciones. Vio en la pared figuras de caldeos pintadas de rojo,

15 con cinturones y amplios turbantes en la cabeza. Todos ellos tenían aspecto de oficiales, y se parecían a los babilonios originarios de Caldea.

16 Al verlos, se enamoró de ellos perdidamente y envió mensajeros a Caldea.

17 Los babilonios vinieron y se acostaron con ella en el lecho de sus pasiones. A tal punto la contaminaron con sus prostituciones que se hastió de ellos.

18 Pero exhibiendo su desnudez, practicó con descaro la prostitución. Entonces me hastié de ella, como antes me había hastiado de su hermana.

19 Pero ella multiplicó sus prostituciones, recordando los días de su juventud cuando en Egipto había sido una prostituta.

20 Allí se había enamorado perdidamente de sus amantes, cuyos genitales eran como los de un asno y su semen como el de un caballo.

21 Así echó de menos la lujuria de su juventud, cuando los egipcios le manoseaban los senos y le acariciaban sus pechos virginales.

22 »Por eso, Aholibá, así dice el SEÑOR omnipotente: “Voy a incitar contra ti a tus amantes, de los que ahora estás hastiada. De todas partes traeré contra ti

23 a los babilonios y a todos los caldeos, a los de Pecod, Soa y Coa, y con ellos a los asirios, todos ellos jóvenes apuestos, gobernantes y oficiales, guerreros y hombres distinguidos, montados a caballo.

24 Vendrán contra ti con muchos carros y carretas, y con una multitud de ejércitos, cascos y escudos. Les encargaré que te juzguen, y te juzgarán según sus costumbres.

25 Descargaré sobre ti el furor de mi ira, y ellos te maltratarán con saña. Te cortarán la nariz y las orejas, y a tus sobrevivientes los matarán a filo de espada. Te arrebatarán a tus hijos y a tus hijas, y los que aún queden con vida serán consumidos por el fuego.

26 Te arrancarán tus vestidos y te quitarán tus joyas.

27 Así pondré fin a tu lujuria y a tu prostitución, que comenzaste en Egipto. Ya no desearás esas cosas ni te acordarás más de Egipto.

28 »”Así dice el SEÑOR omnipotente: Voy a entregarte en manos de los que odias, en manos de quienes te hartaron.

29 Ellos te tratarán con odio y te despojarán de todas tus posesiones. Te dejarán completamente desnuda, y tus prostituciones quedarán al descubierto. Tu lujuria y tu promiscuidad

30 son la causa de todo esto, porque te prostituiste con las naciones y te contaminaste con sus ídolos.

31 Por cuanto has seguido los pasos de tu hermana, en castigo beberás la misma copa.

32 »”Así dice el SEÑOR omnipotente:»”Beberás la copa de tu hermana,una copa grande y profunda.Llena está de burla y escarnio,

33 llena de embriaguez y dolor.Es la copa de ruina y desolación;¡es la copa de tu hermana Samaria!

34 La beberás hasta las heces,la romperás en mil pedazos,y te desgarrarás los pechosporque yo lo he dicho.Lo afirma el SEÑOR omnipotente.

35 »”Por eso, así dice el SEÑOR omnipotente: Por cuanto me has olvidado y me has dado la espalda, sufrirás las consecuencias de tu lujuria y de tus prostituciones”».

36 El SEÑOR me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, ¿acaso no juzgarás a Aholá y a Aholibá? ¡Échales en cara sus actos detestables!

37 Ellas han cometido adulterio, y tienen las manos manchadas de sangre. Han cometido adulterio con sus ídolos, han sacrificado a los hijos que me dieron, y los han ofrecido como alimento a esos ídolos.

38 Además, me han ofendido contaminando mi santuario y, a la vez, profanando mis sábados.

39 El mismo día que sacrificaron a sus hijos para adorar a sus ídolos, entraron a mi santuario y lo profanaron. ¡Y lo hicieron en mi propia casa!

40 »Y por si fuera poco, mandaron a traer gente de muy lejos. Cuando esa gente llegó, ellas se bañaron, se pintaron los ojos y se adornaron con joyas;

41 luego se sentaron en un diván lujoso, frente a una mesa donde previamente habían colocado el incienso y el aceite que me pertenecen.

42 Podía escucharse el bullicio de una multitud: eran los sabeos, que venían del desierto. Adornaron a las mujeres poniéndoles brazaletes en los brazos y hermosas coronas sobre la cabeza.

43 Pensé entonces en esa mujer desgastada por sus adulterios: “Ahora van a seguir aprovechándose de esa mujer prostituida”.

44 Y se acostaron con ella como quien se acuesta con una prostituta. Fue así como se acostaron con esas mujeres lascivas llamadas Aholá y Aholibá.

45 Pero los hombres justos les darán el castigo que merecen las mujeres asesinas y adúlteras, ¡porque son unas adúlteras, y tienen las manos manchadas de sangre!

46 »En efecto, así dice el SEÑOR: ¡Que se convoque a una multitud contra ellas, y que sean entregadas al terror y al saqueo!

47 ¡Que la multitud las apedree y las despedace con la espada! ¡Que maten a sus hijos y a sus hijas, y les prendan fuego a sus casas!

48 Yo pondré fin en el país a esta conducta llena de lascivia. Todas las mujeres quedarán advertidas y no seguirán su ejemplo.

49 Sobre estas dos hermanas recaerá su propia lascivia, y pagarán las consecuencias de sus pecados de idolatría. Entonces sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR omnipotente».
