1 Y CLAMO en mis oídos con gran voz, diciendo: Los visitadores de la ciudad han llegado, y cada uno trae en su mano su instrumento para destruir.

2 Y he aquí que seis varones venían del camino de la puerta de arriba que está vuelta al aquilón, y cada uno traía en su mano su instrumento para destruir. Y entre ellos había un varón vestido de lienzos, el cual traía á su cintura una escribanía de escribano; y entrados, paráronse junto al altar de bronce.

3 Y la gloria del Dios de Israel se alzó de sobre el querubín sobre el cual había estado, al umbral de la casa: y llamó Jehová al varón vestido de lienzos, que tenía á su cintura la escribanía de escribano.

4 Y díjole Jehová: Pasa por medio de la ciudad, por medio de Jerusalem, y pon una señal en la frente á los hombres que gimen y que claman á causa de todas las abominaciones que se hacen en medio de ella.

5 Y á los otros dijo á mis oídos: Pasad por la ciudad en pos de él, y herid; no perdone vuestro ojo, ni tengáis misericordia.

6 Matad viejos, mozos y vírgenes, niños y mujeres, hasta que no quede ninguno: mas á todo aquel sobre el cual hubiere señal, no llegaréis; y habéis de comenzar desde mi santuario. Comenzaron pues desde los varones ancianos que estaban delante del templo.

7 Y díjoles: Contaminad la casa, y henchid los atrios de muertos: salid. Y salieron, é hirieron en la ciudad.

8 Y aconteció que, habiéndolos herido, yo quedé y postréme sobre mi rostro, y clamé, y dije: ¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ¿has de destruir todo el resto de Israel derramando tu furor sobre Jerusalem?

9 Y díjome: La maldad de la casa de Israel y de Judá es grande sobremanera, pues la tierra está llena de sangres, y la ciudad está llena de perversidad: porque han dicho: Dejado ha Jehová la tierra, y Jehová no ve.

10 Así pues, yo, mi ojo no perdonará, ni tendré misericordia: el camino de ellos tornaré sobre su cabeza.

11 Y he aquí que el varón vestido de lienzos, que tenía la escribanía á su cintura, respondió una palabra diciendo: Hecho he conforme á todo lo que me mandaste.

1 And he called in my ears [with] a loud voice, {saying}, "[They] have come near, the punishers of the city, and each [with] his weapon of destruction in his hand.

2 And look! Six men coming from the way of {the upper gate} that faced {northward}, and each [with] his weapon for shattering in his hand; and one man [was] in the midst of them, dressed in linen, and the writing case of the scribe [was] at his side. And they came and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 And the glory of the God of Israel lifted itself up from upon the cherub that he was on [and went] to the threshold of the house, and he called to the man who [was] clothed in linen {with a scribal writing case at his side}.

4 And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men {who are groaning and lamenting} about all of the detestable things {that are being done} in the midst of her."

5 And to the others he said in my hearing, "Go through the city behind him and kill! Your eyes shall not take pity, and you shall not have compassion.

6 You must kill {totally} old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but {concerning} every man {with the mark on him} you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who {were before} the house.

7 And he said to them, "Defile the house and fill the courtyards [with] the dead; go out! And they went out, and they killed in the city.

8 {And then} {as they were striking}, and I [was] left behind, I fell on my face, and I cried out, and I said, "Ah, Lord Yahweh! "[Will] you [be] destroying all of the remnant of Israel {while you pour out your rage} on Jerusalem?"

9 And he said to me, "The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah [is] {exceedingly} great, and the land is filled with bloodguilt, and the city is full of injustice. For they say Yahweh abandoned the land, and {Yahweh does not see}.

10 And I, my eye will not take pity, and I will not have compassion; their way I will bring on their head."

11 And look! The man clothed in linen [and] {with a writing case at his side} [was] bringing back a word, {saying}, "I have done all that you commanded me."
