Galatians 3:1-11

NRSA 1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! NIV 1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. NRSA 2 The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard? NIV 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? NRSA 3 Are you so foolish? Having started with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? NIV 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? NRSA 4 Did you experience so much for nothing?—if it really was for nothing. NIV 4 Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? NRSA 5 Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? NIV 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? NRSA 6 Just as Abraham "believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness," NIV 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” NRSA 7 so, you see, those who believe are the descendants of Abraham. NIV 7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. NRSA 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, declared the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "All the Gentiles shall be blessed in you." NIV 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” NRSA 9 For this reason, those who believe are blessed with Abraham who believed. NIV 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. NRSA 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the things written in the book of the law." NIV 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” NRSA 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law; for "The one who is righteous will live by faith." NIV 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”
