Genesis 31:17-27

GW 17 Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels. NIV 17 Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels, GW 18 He drove all his livestock ahead of him and took all the possessions that he had accumulated. He took his own livestock that he had accumulated in Paddan Aram and went back to his father Isaac in Canaan. NIV 18 and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated in Paddan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. GW 19 When Laban went to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father's idols. NIV 19 When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household gods. GW 20 Jacob also tricked Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was leaving. NIV 20 Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away. GW 21 So he left in a hurry with all that belonged to him. He crossed the Euphrates River and went toward the mountains of Gilead. NIV 21 So he fled with all he had, crossed the Euphrates River, and headed for the hill country of Gilead. GW 22 Two days later Laban was told that Jacob had left in a hurry. NIV 22 On the third day Laban was told that Jacob had fled. GW 23 He and his relatives pursued Jacob for seven days. Laban caught up with him in the mountains of Gilead. NIV 23 Taking his relatives with him, he pursued Jacob for seven days and caught up with him in the hill country of Gilead. GW 24 God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, "Be careful not to say anything at all to Jacob." NIV 24 Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.” GW 25 When Laban finally caught up with Jacob, Jacob had put up his tents in the mountains. So Laban and his relatives put up their tents in the mountains of Gilead. NIV 25 Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and Laban and his relatives camped there too. GW 26 Then Laban asked Jacob, "What have you done by tricking me? You've carried off my daughters like prisoners of war. NIV 26 Then Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done? You’ve deceived me, and you’ve carried off my daughters like captives in war. GW 27 Why did you leave secretly and trick me? You didn't even tell me you were leaving. I would have sent you on your way rejoicing, with songs accompanied by tambourines and lyres. NIV 27 Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn’t you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of timbrels and harps?
