1 EN aquel día Jehová visitará con su espada dura, grande y fuerte, sobre leviathán, serpiente rolliza, y sobre leviathán serpiente retuerta; y matará al dragón que está en la mar.

On that day the LORD will use his fierce and powerful sword to punish Leviathan, that slippery snake, Leviathan, that twisting snake. He will kill that monster which lives in the sea.
2 En aquel día cantad de la viña del vino rojo.

On that day sing about a delightful vineyard.
3 Yo Jehová la guardo, cada momento la regaré; guardaréla de noche y de día, porque nadie la visite.

I, the LORD, watch over it. I water it continually. I watch over it day and night so that no one will harm it.
4 No hay en mí enojo. ¿Quién pondrá contra mí en batalla espinas y cardos? Yo los hollaré, quemarélos juntamente.

I am no longer angry. If only thorns and briars would confront me! I would fight them in battle and set all of them on fire.
5 ¿O forzará alguien mi fortaleza? Haga conmigo paz, sí, haga paz conmigo.

Or else let them come to me for protection. Let them make peace with me. Yes, let them make peace with me.
6 Días vendrán cuando Jacob echará raíces, florecerá y echará renuevos Israel, y la haz del mundo se henchirá de fruto.

In times to come Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom, bud, and fill the whole world with fruit.
7 ¿Acaso ha sido herido como quien lo hirió? ¿ó ha sido muerto como los que lo mataron?

Will the LORD hurt Israel as he hurt others who hurt them? Will he kill them as he killed others?
8 Con medida la castigarás en sus vástagos. El reprime su recio viento en el día del aire solano.

He punished Israel by sending it away. He removed it with a fierce blast from the east winds.
9 De esta manera pues será purgada la iniquidad de Jacob; y éste será todo el fruto, la remoción de su pecado, cuando tornare todas las piedras del altar como piedras de cal desmenuzadas, y no se levantarán los bosques, ni las imágenes del sol.

In this way the wrongdoings of the descendants of Jacob are covered up. This is the way they will turn from their sins-- when they turn all the altar stones into powdered chalk and no poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah or incense altars are left standing.
10 Porque la ciudad fortalecida será asolada, la morada será desamparada y dejada como un desierto: allí se apacentará el becerro, allí tendrá su majada, y acabará sus ramas.

The fortified city is isolated. The homestead is left deserted, abandoned like the desert. Calves will graze there. They will lie down. They will feed on the branches.
11 Cuando sus ramas se secaren, serán quebradas; mujeres vendrán á encenderlas: porque aquél no es pueblo de entendimiento; por tanto su Hacedor no tendrá de él misericordia, ni se compadecerá de él el que lo formó.

When the branches are dried up, they will be broken off. Women will come and build a fire with them. These people don't understand [these things]. That is why their maker won't have compassion on them, and their Creator won't have pity on them.
12 Y acontecerá en aquel día, que herirá Jehová desde el álveo del río hasta el torrente de Egipto, y vosotros, hijos de Israel, seréis reunidos uno á uno.

On that day the LORD will begin his threshing from the flowing stream of the Euphrates River to the brook of Egypt. People of Israel, you will be gathered one by one.
13 Acontecerá también en aquel día, que se tañerá con gran trompeta, y vendrán los que habían sido esparcidos en la tierra de Asiria, y los que habían sido echados en tierra de Egipto, y adorarán á Jehová en el monte santo, en Jerusalem.

On that day a ram's horn will be blown loudly. Those who are dying in Assyria and those who are banished to Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
