1 Un llamado a confiar en el Señor<br />«Escúchenme, todos los que tienen esperanza de ser liberados,<br />todos los que buscan al Señor<br />.<br />Consideren la piedra de la que fueron tallados,<br />la cantera de la que fueron extraídos.

2 Sí, piensen en Abraham, su antepasado,<br />y en Sara, que dio a luz a su nación.<br />Cuando llamé a Abraham, era un solo hombre;<br />pero, cuando lo bendije, se convirtió en una gran nación».

3 El Señor<br /> volverá a consolar a Israel<br />y tendrá piedad de sus ruinas.<br />Su desierto florecerá como el Edén,<br />sus lugares desolados como el huerto del Señor<br />.<br />Allí se encontrarán gozo y alegría;<br />los cantos de gratitud llenarán el aire.

4 «Escúchame, pueblo mío;<br />óyeme, Israel,<br />porque mi ley será proclamada<br />y mi justicia llegará a ser una luz para las naciones.

5 Mi misericordia y mi justicia ya se acercan,<br />mi salvación viene en camino;<br />mi brazo fuerte hará justicia a las naciones.<br />Las tierras lejanas me buscarán<br />y con esperanza aguardarán mi brazo poderoso.

6 Levanten los ojos a los altos cielos<br />y miren la tierra abajo.<br />Pues los cielos desaparecerán como humo<br />y la tierra se gastará como una prenda de vestir.<br />Los habitantes de la tierra morirán como moscas,<br />pero mi salvación permanece para siempre;<br />mi reinado de justicia nunca tendrá fin.

7 »Escúchenme, ustedes que distinguen entre lo bueno y lo malo,<br />ustedes que atesoran mi ley en el corazón.<br />No teman las burlas de la gente,<br />ni tengan miedo de sus insultos.

8 Pues la polilla los devorará a ellos como devora la ropa<br />y el gusano los comerá como se come la lana.<br />Pero mi justicia permanecerá para siempre;<br />mi salvación continuará de generación en generación».

9 ¡Despierta, oh Señor<br />, despierta! ¡Vístete de fuerza!<br />¡Mueve tu poderoso brazo derecho!<br />Levántate como en los días de antaño,<br />cuando mataste a Egipto, al dragón del Nilo.

10 ¿Acaso no eres el mismo hoy,<br />el que secó el mar,<br />haciendo un camino en las profundidades<br />para que tu pueblo pudiera escapar y cruzar al otro lado?

11 Regresarán los que fueron rescatados por el Señor<br />y entrarán cantando a Jerusalén,<br />coronados de alegría eterna.<br />Desaparecerán el dolor y el luto<br />y estarán llenos de gozo y de alegría.

12 «Yo, sí, yo soy quien te consuela.<br />Entonces, ¿por qué les temes a simples seres humanos<br />que se marchitan como la hierba y desaparecen?

13 Sin embargo, has olvidado al Señor<br />, tu Creador,<br />el que extendió el cielo como un dosel<br />y puso los cimientos de la tierra.<br />¿Vivirás en constante terror de los opresores humanos?<br />¿Seguirás temiendo el enojo de tus enemigos?<br />¿Dónde están ahora su furia y su enojo?<br />¡Han desaparecido!

14 Pronto quedarán libres los cautivos.<br />¡La prisión, el hambre y la muerte no serán su destino!

15 Pues yo soy el Señor<br /> tu Dios,<br />que agito el mar haciendo que rujan las olas.<br />Mi nombre es Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales.

16 Y he puesto mis palabras en tu boca<br />y te he escondido a salvo dentro de mi mano.<br />Yo extendí<br /> el cielo como un dosel<br />y puse los cimientos de la tierra.<br />Yo soy el que le dice a Israel:<br />“¡Tú eres mi pueblo!”».

17 ¡Despierta, oh Jerusalén, despierta!<br />Has bebido la copa de la furia del Señor<br />.<br />Has bebido la copa del terror,<br />la has vaciado hasta la última gota.

18 Ni uno de tus hijos queda con vida<br />para tomarte de la mano y guiarte.

19 Estas dos calamidades te han ocurrido:<br />la desolación y la destrucción, el hambre y la guerra.<br />Y ¿quién ha quedado para compadecerse de ti?<br />¿Quién ha quedado para consolarte?

20 Pues tus hijos se han desmayado y yacen en las calles,<br />tan indefensos como antílopes atrapados en una red.<br />El Señor<br /> ha derramado su furia;<br />Dios los ha reprendido.

21 Pero ahora escuchen esto, ustedes los afligidos,<br />que están completamente borrachos,<br />aunque no por haber bebido vino.

22 Esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano,<br />su Dios y Defensor:<br />«Miren, yo les quité de las manos la copa aterradora;<br />ya no beberán más de mi furia.

23 En cambio, entregaré esa copa a quienes los atormentan,<br />a los que dijeron: “Los pisotearemos en el polvo<br />y caminaremos sobre sus espaldas”».

1 “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;

2 look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many.

3 The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

4 “Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: Instruction will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.

5 My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm.

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.

7 “Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults.

8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations.”

9 Awake, awake, arm of the LORD, clothe yourself with strength! Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?

10 Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over?

11 Those the LORD has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

12 “I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass,

13 that you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretches out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?

14 The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread.

15 For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the LORD Almighty is his name.

16 I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand— I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’ ”

17 Awake, awake! Rise up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the LORDthe cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes people stagger.

18 Among all the children she bore there was none to guide her; among all the children she reared there was none to take her by the hand.

19 These double calamities have come upon you— who can comfort you?— ruin and destruction, famine and sword— who can console you?

20 Your children have fainted; they lie at every street corner, like antelope caught in a net. They are filled with the wrath of the LORD, with the rebuke of your God.

21 Therefore hear this, you afflicted one, made drunk, but not with wine.

22 This is what your Sovereign LORD says, your God, who defends his people: “See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger; from that cup, the goblet of my wrath, you will never drink again.

23 I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, ‘Fall prostrate that we may walk on you.’ And you made your back like the ground, like a street to be walked on.”
