Isaiah 26

NLT

HNV

1 In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song: Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.
1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Yehudah: we have a strong city; yeshu`ah will he appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open the gates to all who are righteous; allow the faithful to enter.
2 Open you the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps faith may enter in.
3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
3 You will keep [him] in perfect shalom, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on you]; because he trusts in you.
4 Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.
4 Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD, the LORD, is an everlasting Rock.
5 He humbles the proud and brings down the arrogant city. He brings it down to the dust.
5 For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city: he lays it low, he lays it low even to the ground; he brings it even to the dust.
6 The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot, and the needy walk all over it.
6 The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
7 But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough. You are a God who does what is right, and you smooth out the path ahead of them.
7 The way of the just is uprightness: you that are upright do direct the path of the just.
8 LORD, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.
8 Yes, in the way of your judgments, the LORD, have we waited for you; to your name, even to your memorial [name], is the desire of our soul.
9 In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.
9 With my soul have I desired you in the night; yes, with my spirit within me will I seek you earnestly: for when your judgments are in the eretz, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 Your kindness to the wicked does not make them do good. Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong and take no notice of the LORD ’s majesty.
10 Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not see the majesty of the LORD.
11 O LORD, they pay no attention to your upraised fist. Show them your eagerness to defend your people. Then they will be ashamed. Let your fire consume your enemies.
11 The LORD, your hand is lifted up, yet they don't see: but they shall see [your] zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yes, fire shall devour your adversaries.
12 LORD, you will grant us peace; all we have accomplished is really from you.
12 The LORD, you will ordain shalom for us; for you have also worked all our works for us.
13 O LORD our God, others have ruled us, but you alone are the one we worship.
13 The LORD our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us; but by you only will we make mention of your name.
14 Those we served before are dead and gone. Their departed spirits will never return! You attacked them and destroyed them, and they are long forgotten.
14 [They are] dead, they shall not live; [they are] deceased, they shall not rise: therefore have you visited and destroyed them, and made all memory of them to perish.
15 O LORD, you have made our nation great; yes, you have made us great. You have extended our borders, and we give you the glory!
15 You have increased the nation, O LORD, you have increased the nation; you are glorified; you have enlarged all the borders of the land.
16 LORD, in distress we searched for you. We prayed beneath the burden of your discipline.
16 LORD, in trouble have they visited you; they poured out a prayer [when] your chastening was on them.
17 Just as a pregnant woman writhes and cries out in pain as she gives birth, so were we in your presence, LORD .
17 Like as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so we have been before you, LORD.
18 We, too, writhe in agony, but nothing comes of our suffering. We have not given salvation to the earth, nor brought life into the world.
18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not worked any deliverance in the eretz; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19 But those who die in the LORD will live; their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy! For your life-giving light will fall like dew on your people in the place of the dead!
19 Your dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is [as] the dew of herbs, and the eretz shall cast forth the dead.
20 Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the LORD ’s anger has passed.
20 Come, my people, enter you into your chambers, and shut your doors about you: hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation be past.
21 Look! The LORD is coming from heaven to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will no longer hide those who have been killed. They will be brought out for all to see.
21 For, behold, the LORD comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the eretz for their iniquity: the eretz also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
