James 5:7-11

NRSA 7 Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. NIV 7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. NRSA 8 You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. NIV 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. NRSA 9 Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! NIV 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! NRSA 10 As an example of suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. NIV 10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. NRSA 11 Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. NIV 11 As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
