1 Esperanza de restauración<br />«En ese día —dice el Señor<br />—, seré el Dios de todas las familias de Israel, y ellas serán mi pueblo.

2 Esto dice el Señor<br />:<br />»Los que sobrevivan de la destrucción venidera<br />encontrarán bendiciones aun en las tierras áridas,<br />porque al pueblo de Israel le daré descanso».

3 Hace tiempo el Señor<br /> le dijo a Israel:<br />«Yo te he amado, pueblo mío, con un amor eterno.<br />Con amor inagotable te acerqué a mí.

4 Yo te reedificaré, mi virgen Israel.<br />Volverás a ser feliz<br />y con alegría danzarás con las panderetas.

5 De nuevo plantarás tus viñedos sobre las montañas de Samaria<br />y allí comerás de tus propios huertos.

6 Llegará el día cuando los centinelas gritarán<br />desde la zona montañosa de Efraín:<br />“Vengan, subamos a Jerusalén<br />a adorar al Señor<br /> nuestro Dios”».

7 Ahora esto dice el Señor<br />:<br />«Canten con alegría por Israel.<br />¡Griten por la mejor de las naciones!<br />Griten de alabanza y alegría:<br />“¡Salva a tu pueblo, oh Señor<br />,<br />el remanente de Israel!”.

8 Pues los traeré del norte<br />y de los extremos más lejanos de la tierra.<br />No me olvidaré del ciego ni del cojo,<br />ni de las mujeres embarazadas ni de las que están en trabajo de parto.<br />¡Volverá un enorme grupo!

9 Por sus rostros correrán lágrimas de alegría,<br />y con mucho cuidado los guiaré a casa.<br />Caminarán junto a arroyos quietos<br />y por caminos llanos donde no tropezarán.<br />Pues soy el padre de Israel,<br />y Efraín es mi hijo mayor.

10 »Ustedes, naciones del mundo,<br />escuchen este mensaje del Señor<br />;<br />proclámenlo en las costas lejanas:<br />El Señor<br /> que dispersó a su pueblo,<br />lo reunirá y lo cuidará<br />como hace un pastor con su rebaño.

11 Pues el Señor<br /> ha rescatado a Israel<br />de manos más fuertes.

12 Vendrán a su tierra y entonarán canciones de alegría en las alturas de Jerusalén.<br />Estarán radiantes debido a los buenos regalos del Señor<br />:<br />abundancia de grano, vino nuevo y aceite de oliva,<br />y los rebaños y las manadas saludables.<br />Su vida será como un jardín bien regado<br />y desaparecerán todas sus tristezas.

13 Las jóvenes danzarán de alegría<br />y los hombres —jóvenes y viejos— se unirán a la celebración.<br />Convertiré su duelo en alegría.<br />Los consolaré y cambiaré su aflicción en regocijo.

14 Los sacerdotes disfrutarán de la abundancia,<br />y mi pueblo se saciará de mis buenos regalos.<br />¡Yo, el Señor<br />, he hablado!».

15 La tristeza de Raquel se torna en alegría<br />Esto dice el Señor<br />:<br />«En Ramá se oye una voz,<br />profunda angustia y llanto amargo.<br />Raquel llora por sus hijos,<br />se niega a que la consuelen,<br />porque sus hijos se han ido».

16 Pero ahora esto dice el Señor<br />:<br />«No llores más,<br />porque te recompensaré —dice el Señor<br />—.<br />Tus hijos volverán a ti<br />desde la tierra lejana del enemigo.

17 Hay esperanza para tu futuro —dice el Señor<br />—.<br />Tus hijos volverán a su propia tierra.

18 Oí a Israel<br /> decir:<br />“Me disciplinaste severamente,<br />como a un becerro que necesita ser entrenado para el yugo.<br />Hazme volver a ti y restáurame,<br />porque solo tú eres el Señor<br /> mi Dios.

19 Me aparté de Dios,<br />pero después tuve remordimiento.<br />¡Me di golpes por haber sido tan estúpido!<br />Estaba profundamente avergonzado por todo lo que hice en los días de mi juventud”.

20 »¿No es aún Israel mi hijo,<br />mi hijo querido? —dice el Señor<br />—.<br />A menudo tengo que castigarlo,<br />pero aun así lo amo.<br />Por eso mi corazón lo anhela<br />y ciertamente le tendré misericordia.

21 Pon señales en el camino;<br />coloca postes indicadores.<br />Marca bien el camino<br />por el que viniste.<br />Regresa otra vez, mi virgen Israel;<br />regresa aquí a tus ciudades.

22 ¿Hasta cuándo vagarás,<br />mi hija descarriada?<br />Pues el Señor<br /> hará que algo nuevo suceda:<br />Israel abrazará a su Dios».

23 Esto dice el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales, Dios de Israel: «Cuando los traiga de regreso del cautiverio, el pueblo de Judá y sus ciudades volverán a decir: “¡El Señor<br /> te bendiga, oh casa de rectitud, oh monte santo!”.

24 Tanto la gente de la ciudad como los agricultores y los pastores vivirán juntos en paz y felicidad.

25 Pues le he dado descanso al fatigado y al afligido, alegría».

26 Al oír esto, me desperté y miré a mi alrededor. Mi sueño había sido muy dulce.

27 «Se acerca el día —dice el Señor<br />—, cuando aumentaré en gran manera la población humana y el número de los animales en Israel y Judá.

28 En el pasado con determinación desarraigué y derribé a esta nación. La derroqué, la destruí y sobre ella traje el desastre; pero en el futuro con la misma determinación la plantaré y la edificaré. ¡Yo, el Señor<br />, he hablado!

29 »El pueblo ya no citará este proverbio:<br />“Los padres comieron uvas agrias<br />pero la boca de sus hijos se frunce por el sabor”.

30 Cada persona morirá por sus propios pecados, los que coman las uvas agrias serán los que tengan la boca fruncida.

31 »Se acerca el día —dice el Señor<br />—, en que haré un nuevo pacto con el pueblo de Israel y de Judá.

32 Este pacto no será como el que hice con sus antepasados cuando los tomé de la mano y los saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Ellos rompieron ese pacto, a pesar de que los amé como un hombre ama a su esposa», dice el Señor<br />.

33 «Pero este es el nuevo pacto que haré con el pueblo de Israel en ese día —dice el Señor<br />—. Pondré mis instrucciones en lo más profundo de ellos y las escribiré en su corazón. Yo seré su Dios y ellos serán mi pueblo.

34 Y no habrá necesidad de enseñar a sus vecinos ni habrá necesidad de enseñar a sus parientes diciendo: “Deberías conocer al Señor<br />”. Pues todos ya me conocerán, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande —dice el Señor<br />—. Perdonaré sus maldades y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados».

35 Es el Señor<br /> quien provee el sol para alumbrar el día<br />y la luna y las estrellas para alumbrar la noche,<br />y agita el mar y hace olas rugientes.<br />Su nombre es el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales,<br />y esto es lo que dice:

36 «¡Igual de improbable es que anule las leyes de la naturaleza<br />como que rechace a mi pueblo Israel!».

37 Esto dice el Señor<br />:<br />«Así como no se pueden medir los cielos<br />ni explorar los fundamentos de la tierra,<br />así tampoco consideraré echarlos fuera<br />por las maldades que han hecho.<br />¡Yo, el Señor<br />, he hablado!

38 »Se acerca el día —dice el Señor<br />—, cuando toda Jerusalén será reconstruida para mí, desde la torre de Hananeel hasta la puerta de la Esquina.

39 Se extenderá una cuerda de medir sobre la colina de Gareb hasta Goa

40 y el área entera —incluidos el cementerio y el basurero de cenizas en el valle, y todos los campos en el oriente hasta el valle de Cedrón y hasta la puerta de los Caballos— será santa al Señor<br />. Nunca más la ciudad será conquistada ni destruida».

New International Version NIV

1 “At that time,” declares the LORD, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.”

2 This is what the LORD says: “The people who survive the sword will find favor in the wilderness; I will come to give rest to Israel.”

3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

4 I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful.

5 Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit.

6 There will be a day when watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Come, let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.’ ”

7 This is what the LORD says: “Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost of the nations. Make your praises heard, and say, ‘LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel.’

8 See, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the ends of the earth. Among them will be the blind and the lame, expectant mothers and women in labor; a great throng will return.

9 They will come with weeping; they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead them beside streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son.

10 “Hear the word of the LORD, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’

11 For the LORD will deliver Jacob and redeem them from the hand of those stronger than they.

12 They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the LORD— the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.

13 Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

14 I will satisfy the priests with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty,” declares the LORD.

15 This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

16 This is what the LORD says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the LORD. “They will return from the land of the enemy.

17 So there is hope for your descendants,” declares the LORD. “Your children will return to their own land.

18 “I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning: ‘You disciplined me like an unruly calf, and I have been disciplined. Restore me, and I will return, because you are the LORD my God.

19 After I strayed, I repented; after I came to understand, I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’

20 Is not Ephraim my dear son, the child in whom I delight? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him,” declares the LORD.

21 “Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take. Return, Virgin Israel, return to your towns.

22 How long will you wander, unfaithful Daughter Israel? The LORD will create a new thing on earth— the woman will return to the man.”

23 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “When I bring them back from captivity, the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: ‘The LORD bless you, you prosperous city, you sacred mountain.’

24 People will live together in Judah and all its towns—farmers and those who move about with their flocks.

25 I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

26 At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.

27 “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will plant the kingdoms of Israel and Judah with the offspring of people and of animals.

28 Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant,” declares the LORD.

29 “In those days people will no longer say, ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’

30 Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.

31 “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.

32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, ” declares the LORD.

33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

34 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

35 This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the LORD Almighty is his name:

36 “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,” declares the LORD, “will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.”

37 This is what the LORD says: “Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done,” declares the LORD.

38 “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when this city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.

39 The measuring line will stretch from there straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn to Goah.

40 The whole valley where dead bodies and ashes are thrown, and all the terraces out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far as the corner of the Horse Gate, will be holy to the LORD. The city will never again be uprooted or demolished.”
