1 Y REASUMIO Job su discurso, y dijo:
1
Job continued his poems and said,
2 Vive Dios, el cual ha apartado mi causa, Y el Omnipotente, que amargó el alma mía,

"I swear an oath by God, the one who has taken away my rights, by the Almighty, who has made my life bitter:
3 Que todo el tiempo que mi alma estuviere en mí, Y hubiere hálito de Dios en mis narices,
3
'As long as there is one breath [left] in me and God's breath fills my nostrils,
4 Mis labios no hablarán iniquidad, Ni mi lengua pronunciará engaño.

my lips will not say anything wrong, and my tongue will not mumble anything deceitful.'
5 Nunca tal acontezca que yo os justifique: Hasta morir no quitaré de mí mi integridad.

It's unthinkable for me to admit that you are right. Until I breathe my last breath, I will never give up my claim of integrity.
6 Mi justicia tengo asida, y no la cederé: No me reprochará mi corazón en el tiempo de mi vida.

I cling to my righteousness and won't let go. My conscience won't accuse me as long as I live.
7 Sea como el impío mi enemigo, Y como el inicuo mi adversario.

"Let my enemy be [treated] like wicked people. Let anyone who attacks me be [treated] like unrighteous people.
8 Porque ¿cuál es la esperanza del hipócrita, por mucho que hubiere robado, Cuando Dios arrebatare su alma?

After all, what hope does the godless person have when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
9 ¿Oirá Dios su clamor Cuando la tribulación sobre él viniere?

Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him?
10 ¿Deleitaráse en el Omnipotente? ¿Invocará á Dios en todo tiempo?

Can he be happy with the Almighty? Can he call on God at all times?
11 Yo os enseñaré en orden á la mano de Dios: No esconderé lo que hay para con el Omnipotente.

"I will teach you about God's power. I will not hide what the Almighty has done.
12 He aquí que todos vosotros lo habéis visto: ¿Por qué pues os desvanecéis con fantasía?

Certainly, you have all seen it. Why then do you chatter on about such nonsense?
13 Esta es para con Dios la suerte del hombre impío, Y la herencia que los violentos han de recibir del Omnipotente.

This is what God has waiting for the wicked person, the inheritance that tyrants receive from the Almighty:
14 Si sus hijos fueren multiplicados, serán para el cuchillo; Y sus pequeños no se hartarán de pan;
14
If he has many children, swords will kill them, and his descendants won't have enough food.
15 Los que le quedaren, en muerte serán sepultados; Y no llorarán sus viudas.
15
Those who survive him will be buried by a plague, and their widows won't cry [for them].
16 Si amontonare plata como polvo, Y si preparare ropa como lodo;

Though he collects silver like dust and piles up clothing like dirt,
17 Habrála él preparado, mas el justo se vestirá, Y el inocente repartirá la plata.

righteous people will wear what he piles up, and the innocent will divide the silver [among themselves].
18 Edificó su casa como la polilla, Y cual cabaña que el guarda hizo.

He builds his house like a moth, like a shack that a watchman makes.
19 El rico dormirá, mas no será recogido: Abrirá sus ojos, mas él no será.

He may go to bed rich, but he'll never be rich again. When he opens his eyes, nothing will be left.
20 Asirán de él terrores como aguas: Torbellino lo arrebatará de noche.
20
Terrors overtake him like a flood. A windstorm snatches him away at night.
21 Lo antecogerá el solano, y partirá; Y tempestad lo arrebatará del lugar suyo.

The east wind carries him away, and he's gone. It sweeps him from his place.
22 Dios pues descargará sobre él, y no perdonará: Hará él por huir de su mano.

It hurls itself at him without mercy. He flees from its power.
23 Batirán sus manos sobre él, Y desde su lugar le silbarán.
23
It claps its hands over him. It whistles at him from his own place.
