Job 30:12-31

GNTA 12 This mob attacks me head-on; they send me running; they prepare their final assault. NIV 12 On my right the tribe attacks; they lay snares for my feet, they build their siege ramps against me. GNTA 13 They cut off my escape and try to destroy me; and there is no one to stop them. NIV 13 They break up my road; they succeed in destroying me. ‘No one can help him,’ they say. GNTA 14 They pour through the holes in my defenses and come crashing down on top of me; NIV 14 They advance as through a gaping breach; amid the ruins they come rolling in. GNTA 15 I am overcome with terror; my dignity is gone like a puff of wind, and my prosperity like a cloud. NIV 15 Terrors overwhelm me; my dignity is driven away as by the wind, my safety vanishes like a cloud. GNTA 16 Now I am about to die; there is no relief for my suffering. NIV 16 “And now my life ebbs away; days of suffering grip me. GNTA 17 At night my bones all ache; the pain that gnaws me never stops. NIV 17 Night pierces my bones; my gnawing pains never rest. GNTA 18 God seizes me by my collar and twists my clothes out of shape. NIV 18 In his great power God becomes like clothing to me ; he binds me like the neck of my garment. GNTA 19 He throws me down in the mud; I am no better than dirt. NIV 19 He throws me into the mud, and I am reduced to dust and ashes. GNTA 20 I call to you, O God, but you never answer; and when I pray, you pay no attention. NIV 20 “I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me. GNTA 21 You are treating me cruelly; you persecute me with all your power. NIV 21 You turn on me ruthlessly; with the might of your hand you attack me. GNTA 22 You let the wind blow me away; you toss me about in a raging storm. NIV 22 You snatch me up and drive me before the wind; you toss me about in the storm. GNTA 23 I know you are taking me off to my death, to the fate in store for everyone. NIV 23 I know you will bring me down to death, to the place appointed for all the living. GNTA 24 Why do you attack a ruined man, one who can do nothing but beg for pity? NIV 24 “Surely no one lays a hand on a broken man when he cries for help in his distress. GNTA 25 Didn't I weep with people in trouble and feel sorry for those in need? NIV 25 Have I not wept for those in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor? GNTA 26 I hoped for happiness and light, but trouble and darkness came instead. NIV 26 Yet when I hoped for good, evil came; when I looked for light, then came darkness. GNTA 27 I am torn apart by worry and pain; I have had day after day of suffering. NIV 27 The churning inside me never stops; days of suffering confront me. GNTA 28 I go about in gloom, without any sunshine; I stand up in public and plead for help. NIV 28 I go about blackened, but not by the sun; I stand up in the assembly and cry for help. GNTA 29 My voice is as sad and lonely as the cries of a jackal or an ostrich. NIV 29 I have become a brother of jackals, a companion of owls. GNTA 30 My skin has turned dark; I am burning with fever. NIV 30 My skin grows black and peels; my body burns with fever. GNTA 31 Where once I heard joyful music, now I hear only mourning and weeping. NIV 31 My lyre is tuned to mourning, and my pipe to the sound of wailing.
