1 (39-34) A más de eso respondió Jehová á Job y dijo:

2 (39-35) ¿Es sabiduría contender con el Omnipotente? El que disputa con Dios, responda á esto.

Will he who is protesting give teaching to the Ruler of all? Let him who has arguments to put forward against God give an answer.
3 (39-36) Y respondió Job á Jehová, y dijo:

And Job said in answer to the Lord,
4 (39-37) He aquí que yo soy vil, ¿qué te responderé? Mi mano pongo sobre mi boca.

Truly, I am of no value; what answer may I give to you? I will put my hand on my mouth.
5 (39-38) Una vez hablé, y no responderé: Aun dos veces, mas no tornaré á hablar.

I have said once, and even twice, what was in my mind, but I will not do so again.
6 (40-1) ENTONCES respondió Jehová á Job desde la oscuridad, y dijo:

Then the Lord made answer to Job out of the storm-wind, and said,
7 (40-2) Cíñete ahora como varón tus lomos; Yo te preguntaré, y explícame.

Get your strength together like a man of war: I will put questions to you, and you will give me the answers.
8 (40-3) ¿Invalidarás tú también mi juicio? ¿Me condenarás á mí, para justificarte á ti?

Will you even make my right of no value? will you say that I am wrong in order to make clear that you are right?
9 (40-4) ¿Tienes tú brazo como Dios? ¿Y tronarás tú con voz como él?

Have you an arm like God? have you a voice of thunder like his?
10 (40-5) Atavíate ahora de majestad y de alteza: Y vístete de honra y de hermosura.

Put on the ornaments of your pride; be clothed with glory and power:
11 (40-6) Esparce furores de tu ira: Y mira á todo soberbio, y abátelo.

Let your wrath be overflowing; let your eyes see all the sons of pride, and make them low.
12 (40-7) Mira á todo soberbio, y humíllalo, Y quebranta á los impíos en su asiento.

Send destruction on all who are lifted up, pulling down the sinners from their places.
13 (40-8) Encúbrelos á todos en el polvo, Venda sus rostros en la oscuridad;

Let them be covered together in the dust; let their faces be dark in the secret place of the underworld.
14 (40-9) Y yo también te confesaré Que podrá salvarte tu diestra.

Then I will give praise to you, saying that your right hand is able to give you salvation.
15 (40-10) He aquí ahora behemoth, al cual yo hice contigo; Hierba come como buey.

See now the Great Beast, whom I made, even as I made you; he takes grass for food, like the ox.
16 (40-11) He aquí ahora que su fuerza está en sus lomos, Y su fortaleza en el ombligo de su vientre.

His strength is in his body, and his force in the muscles of his stomach.
17 (40-12) Su cola mueve como un cedro, Y los nervios de sus genitales son entretejidos.

His tail is curving like a cedar; the muscles of his legs are joined together.
18 (40-13) Sus huesos son fuertes como bronce, Y sus miembros como barras de hierro.

His bones are pipes of brass, his legs are like rods of iron.
19 (40-14) El es la cabeza de los caminos de Dios: El que lo hizo, puede hacer que su cuchillo á él se acerque.

He is the chief of the ways of God, made by him for his pleasure.
20 (40-15) Ciertamente los montes producen hierba para él: Y toda bestia del campo retoza allá.

He takes the produce of the mountains, where all the beasts of the field are at play.
21 (40-16) Echaráse debajo de las sombras, En lo oculto de las cañas, y de los lugares húmedos.

He takes his rest under the trees of the river, and in the pool, under the shade of the water-plants.
22 (40-17) Los árboles sombríos lo cubren con su sombra; Los sauces del arroyo lo cercan.

He is covered by the branches of the trees; the grasses of the stream are round him.
23 (40-18) He aquí que él tomará el río sin inmutarse: Y confíase que el Jordán pasará por su boca.

Truly, if the river is overflowing, it gives him no cause for fear; he has no sense of danger, even if Jordan is rushing against his mouth.
24 (40-19) ¿Tomarálo alguno por sus ojos en armadijos, Y horadará su nariz?

Will anyone take him when he is on the watch, or put metal teeth through his nose?
