1 Entonces Job respondió al SEÑOR, y dijo:

2 Yo sé que tú puedes hacer todas las cosas, y que ningún propósito tuyo puede ser estorbado.

3 "¿Quién es éste que oculta el consejo sin entendimiento?" Por tanto, he declarado lo que no comprendía, cosas demasiado maravillosas para mí, que yo no sabía.

4 "Escucha ahora, y hablaré; te preguntaré y tú me instruirás."

5 He sabido de ti sólo de oídas, pero ahora mis ojos te ven.

6 Por eso me retracto, y me arrepiento en polvo y ceniza.

7 Y sucedió que después que el SEÑOR habló estas palabras a Job, el SEÑOR dijo a Elifaz temanita: Se ha encendido mi ira contra ti y contra tus dos amigos, porque no habéis hablado de mí lo que es recto, como mi siervo Job.

8 Ahora pues, tomad siete novillos y siete carneros, id a mi siervo Job y ofreced holocausto por vosotros, y mi siervo Job orará por vosotros. Porque ciertamente a él atenderé para no hacer con vosotros conforme a vuestra insensatez, porque no habéis hablado de mí lo que es recto, como mi siervo Job.

9 Y Elifaz temanita y Bildad suhita y Zofar naamatita fueron e hicieron tal como el SEÑOR les había dicho; y el SEÑOR aceptó a Job.

10 Y el SEÑOR restauró el bienestar de Job cuando éste oró por sus amigos; y el SEÑOR aumentó al doble todo lo que Job había poseído.

11 Entonces todos sus hermanos y todas sus hermanas y todos los que le habían conocido antes, vinieron a él y comieron pan con él en su casa; se condolieron de él y lo consolaron por todo el mal que el SEÑOR había traído sobre él. Cada uno le dio una moneda de plata, y cada uno un anillo de oro.

12 El SEÑOR bendijo los últimos días de Job más que los primeros; y tuvo catorce mil ovejas, seis mil camellos, mil yuntas de bueyes y mil asnas.

13 Y tuvo siete hijos y tres hijas.

14 Llamó a la primera Jemina, a la segunda Cesia y a la tercera Keren-hapuc.

15 Y en toda la tierra no se encontraban mujeres tan hermosas como las hijas de Job; y su padre les dio herencia entre sus hermanos.

16 Después de esto vivió Job ciento cuarenta años, y vio a sus hijos y a los hijos de sus hijos, hasta cuatro generaciones.

17 Y murió Job, anciano y lleno de días.

1 Job answered God:

2 "I'm convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans.

3 You asked, 'Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?' I admit it. I was the one. I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head.

4 You told me, 'Listen, and let me do the talking. Let me ask the questions. You give the answers.'

5 I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand - from my own eyes and ears!

6 I'm sorry - forgive me. I'll never do that again, I promise! I'll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor."

7 After God had finished addressing Job, he turned to Eliphaz the Temanite and said, "I've had it with you and your two friends. I'm fed up! You haven't been honest either with me or about me - not the way my friend Job has.

8 So here's what you must do. Take seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my friend Job. Sacrifice a burnt offering on your own behalf. My friend Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer. He will ask me not to treat you as you deserve for talking nonsense about me, and for not being honest with me, as he has."

9 They did it. Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite did what God commanded. And God accepted Job's prayer.

10 After Job had interceded for his friends, God restored his fortune - and then doubled it!

11 All his brothers and sisters and friends came to his house and celebrated. They told him how sorry they were, and consoled him for all the trouble God had brought him. Each of them brought generous housewarming gifts.

12 God blessed Job's later life even more than his earlier life. He ended up with fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand teams of oxen, and one thousand donkeys.

13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.

14 He named the first daughter Dove, the second, Cinnamon, and the third, Darkeyes.

15 There was not a woman in that country as beautiful as Job's daughters. Their father treated them as equals with their brothers, providing the same inheritance.

16 Job lived on another hundred and forty years, living to see his children and grandchildren - four generations of them!

17 Then he died - an old man, a full life.
