John 12:37-43

CSB 37 Even though He had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in Him. NIV 37 Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. CSB 38 But this was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet, who said: Lord, who has believed our message? And who has the arm of the Lord been revealed to? NIV 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” CSB 39 This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said: NIV 39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: CSB 40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they would not see with their eyes or understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I would heal them. NIV 40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.” CSB 41 Isaiah said these things because he saw His glory and spoke about Him. NIV 41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him. CSB 42 Nevertheless, many did believe in Him even among the rulers, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, so they would not be banned from the synagogue. NIV 42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; CSB 43 For they loved praise from men more than praise from God. NIV 43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
