John 1:1-14

RHE 1 In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God: and the Word was God. NIV 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. RHE 2 The same was in the beginning with God. NIV 2 He was with God in the beginning. RHE 3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made. NIV 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. RHE 4 In him was life: and the life was the light of men. NIV 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. RHE 5 And the light shineth in darkness: and the darkness did not comprehend it. NIV 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. RHE 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. NIV 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. RHE 7 This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. NIV 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. RHE 8 He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. NIV 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. RHE 9 That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world. NIV 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. RHE 10 He was in the world: and the world was made by him: and the world knew him not. NIV 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. RHE 11 He came unto his own: and his own received him not. NIV 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. RHE 12 But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name. NIV 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— RHE 13 Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. NIV 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. RHE 14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. NIV 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
