VUL 12 post hoc descendit Capharnaum ipse et mater eius et fratres eius et discipuli eius et ibi manserunt non multis diebus NIV 12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days. VUL 13 et prope erat pascha Iudaeorum et ascendit Hierosolyma Iesus NIV 13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. VUL 14 et invenit in templo vendentes boves et oves et columbas et nummularios sedentes NIV 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. VUL 15 et cum fecisset quasi flagellum de funiculis omnes eiecit de templo oves quoque et boves et nummulariorum effudit aes et mensas subvertit NIV 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. VUL 16 et his qui columbas vendebant dixit auferte ista hinc nolite facere domum Patris mei domum negotiationis NIV 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” VUL 17 recordati vero sunt discipuli eius quia scriptum est zelus domus tuae comedit me NIV 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” VUL 18 responderunt ergo Iudaei et dixerunt ei quod signum ostendis nobis quia haec facis NIV 18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” VUL 19 respondit Iesus et dixit eis solvite templum hoc et in tribus diebus excitabo illud NIV 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” VUL 20 dixerunt ergo Iudaei quadraginta et sex annis aedificatum est templum hoc et tu tribus diebus excitabis illud NIV 20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” VUL 21 ille autem dicebat de templo corporis sui NIV 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. VUL 22 cum ergo resurrexisset a mortuis recordati sunt discipuli eius quia hoc dicebat et crediderunt scripturae et sermoni quem dixit Iesus NIV 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. VUL 23 cum autem esset Hierosolymis in pascha in die festo multi crediderunt in nomine eius videntes signa eius quae faciebat NIV 23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. VUL 24 ipse autem Iesus non credebat semet ipsum eis eo quod ipse nosset omnes NIV 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. VUL 25 et quia opus ei non erat ut quis testimonium perhiberet de homine ipse enim sciebat quid esset in homine NIV 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
