John 3:22-36

WEB 22 After these things, Jesus came with his disciples into the land of Judea. He stayed there with them, and baptized. NIV 22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. WEB 23 John also was baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. They came, and were baptized. NIV 24 (This was before John was put in prison.) WEB 25 There arose therefore a questioning on the part of John's disciples with some Jews about purification. NIV 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing. WEB 26 They came to John, and said to him, "Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to him." NIV 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.” WEB 27 John answered, "A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven. NIV 27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. WEB 28 You yourselves testify about me, that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before him.' This, my joy, therefore is made full. NIV 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. WEB 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. NIV 30 He must become greater; I must become less.” WEB 31 He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the Earth belongs to the Earth, and speaks of the Earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. NIV 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. WEB 32 What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness. NIV 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. WEB 33 He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true. NIV 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. WEB 34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure. NIV 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. WEB 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. NIV 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. WEB 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who disobeys the Son won't see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." NIV 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
