John 6:5-13

NKJV 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?" NIV 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” NKJV 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. NIV 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. NKJV 7 Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little." NIV 7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” NKJV 8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, NIV 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, NKJV 9 "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?" NIV 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” NKJV 10 Then Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. NIV 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). NKJV 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. NIV 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. NKJV 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost." NIV 12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” NKJV 13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. NIV 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
