NCV 1 The Israelites took control of the land east of the Jordan River from the Arnon Ravine to Mount Hermon and all the land along the eastern side of the Jordan Valley. These lands belonged to the kings whom the Israelites defeated. NIV 1 These are the kings of the land whom the Israelites had defeated and whose territory they took over east of the Jordan, from the Arnon Gorge to Mount Hermon, including all the eastern side of the Arabah: NCV 2 Sihon king of the Amorites lived in the city of Heshbon and ruled the land from Aroer at the Arnon Ravine to the Jabbok River. His land started in the middle of the ravine, which was their border with the Ammonites. Sihon ruled over half the land of Gilead NIV 2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon. He ruled from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge—from the middle of the gorge—to the Jabbok River, which is the border of the Ammonites. This included half of Gilead. NCV 3 and over the eastern side of the Jordan Valley from Lake Galilee to the Dead Sea. And he ruled from Beth Jeshimoth south to the slopes of Pisgah. NIV 3 He also ruled over the eastern Arabah from the Sea of Galilee to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea), to Beth Jeshimoth, and then southward below the slopes of Pisgah. NCV 4 Og king of Bashan was one of the last of the Rephaites. He ruled the land in Ashtaroth and Edrei. NIV 4 And the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the last of the Rephaites, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei. NCV 5 He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salecah, and all the area of Bashan up to where the people of Geshur and Maacah lived. Og also ruled half the land of Gilead up to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. NIV 5 He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salekah, all of Bashan to the border of the people of Geshur and Maakah, and half of Gilead to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. NCV 6 The Lord's servant Moses and the Israelites defeated all these kings, and Moses gave that land to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and to East Manasseh as their own. NIV 6 Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites conquered them. And Moses the servant of the LORD gave their land to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh to be their possession. NCV 7 Joshua and the Israelites also defeated kings in the land west of the Jordan River. He gave the people the land and divided it among the twelve tribes to be their own. It was between Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon and Mount Halak near Edom. NIV 7 Here is a list of the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave their lands as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions. NCV 8 This included the mountains, the western hills, the Jordan Valley, the slopes, the desert, and southern Canaan. This was the land where the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites had lived. The Israelites defeated the king of each of the following cities: NIV 8 The lands included the hill country, the western foothills, the Arabah, the mountain slopes, the wilderness and the Negev. These were the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. These were the kings: NCV 9 Jericho, Ai (near Bethel), NIV 9 the king of Jericho: one; the king of Ai(near Bethel): one; NCV 10 Jerusalem, Hebron, NIV 10 the king of Jerusalem: one; the king of Hebron: one; NCV 11 Jarmuth, Lachish, NIV 11 the king of Jarmuth: one; the king of Lachish: one; NCV 12 Eglon, Gezer, NIV 12 the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one; NCV 13 Debir, Geder, NIV 13 the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one; NCV 14 Hormah, Arad, NIV 14 the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one; NCV 15 Libnah, Adullam, NIV 15 the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one; NCV 16 Makkedah, Bethel, NIV 16 the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one; NCV 17 Tappuah, Hepher, NIV 17 the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one; NCV 18 Aphek, Lasharon, NIV 18 the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one; NCV 19 Madon, Hazor, NIV 19 the king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one; NCV 20 Shimron Meron, Acshaph, NIV 20 the king of Shimron Meron, one; the king of Akshaph, one; NCV 21 Taanach, Megiddo, NIV 21 the king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one; NCV 22 Kedesh, Jokneam in Carmel, NIV 22 the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one; NCV 23 Dor (in Naphoth Dor), Goyim in Gilgal, and NIV 23 the king of Dor (in Naphoth Dor), one; the king of Goyim in Gilgal, one; NCV 24 Tirzah. The total number of kings was thirty-one. NIV 24 the king of Tirzah, one; thirty-one kings in all.
