1 Entonces Josué reunió a todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem, llamó a los ancianos de Israel, a sus jefes, a sus jueces y a sus oficiales, y ellos se presentaron delante de Dios.

Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
2 Y Josué dijo a todo el pueblo: Así dice el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: "Al otro lado del río habitaban antiguamente vuestros padres, es decir, Taré, padre de Abraham y de Nacor, y servían a otros dioses.

And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'Your fathers, including Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, dwelt on the other side of the River in old times; and they served other gods.
3 "Entonces tomé a vuestro padre Abraham del otro lado del río y lo guié por toda la tierra de Canaán, multipliqué su descendencia y le di a Isaac.

Then I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.
4 "Y a Isaac le di a Jacob y a Esaú, y a Esaú le di el monte Seir para que lo poseyera; pero Jacob y sus hijos descendieron a Egipto.

'To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I gave the mountains of Seir to possess, but Jacob and his children went down to Egypt.
5 "Entonces envié a Moisés y a Aarón, y herí con plagas a Egipto conforme a lo que hice en medio de él; y después os saqué.

'Also I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to what I did among them. Afterward I brought you out.
6 "Saqué a vuestros padres de Egipto y llegasteis al mar, y Egipto persiguió a vuestros padres con carros y caballería hasta el mar Rojo.

'Then I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen to the Red Sea.
7 "Pero cuando clamaron al SEÑOR, El puso tinieblas entre vosotros y los egipcios, e hizo venir sobre ellos el mar, que los cubrió; y vuestros propios ojos vieron lo que hice en Egipto. Y por mucho tiempo vivisteis en el desierto.

'So they cried out to the Lord; and He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, brought the sea upon them, and covered them. And your eyes saw what I did in Egypt. Then you dwelt in the wilderness a long time.
8 "Entonces os traje a la tierra de los amorreos que habitaban al otro lado del Jordán, y ellos pelearon contra vosotros; los entregué en vuestras manos, y tomasteis posesión de su tierra cuando yo los destruí delante de vosotros.

'And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt on the other side of the Jordan, and they fought with you. But I gave them into your hand, that you might possess their land, and I destroyed them from before you.
9 "Entonces Balac, hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab, se levantó y peleó contra Israel, y envió a llamar a Balaam, hijo de Beor, para que os maldijera.

'Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you.
10 "Pero yo no quise escuchar a Balaam; y él tuvo que bendeciros, y os libré de su mano.

'But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he continued to bless you. So I delivered you out of his hand.
11 "Pasasteis el Jordán y llegasteis a Jericó; y los habitantes de Jericó pelearon contra vosotros, y también los amorreos, los ferezeos, los cananeos, los heteos, los gergeseos, los heveos y los jebuseos. Y los entregué en vuestras manos.

'Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you--also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand.
12 "Entonces envié delante de vosotros avispas que expulsaron a los dos reyes de los amorreos de delante de vosotros, pero no fue por vuestra espada ni por vuestro arco.

'I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, also the two kings of the Amorites, but not with your sword or with your bow.
13 "Y os di una tierra en que no habíais trabajado, y ciudades que no habíais edificado, y habitáis en ellas; de viñas y olivares que no plantasteis, coméis."

'I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.'
14 Ahora pues, temed al SEÑOR y servidle con integridad y con fidelidad; quitad los dioses que vuestros padres sirvieron al otro lado del río y en Egipto, y servid al SEÑOR.

"Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!
15 Y si no os parece bien servir al SEÑOR, escoged hoy a quién habéis de servir: si a los dioses que sirvieron vuestros padres, que estaban al otro lado del río, o a los dioses de los amorreos en cuya tierra habitáis; pero yo y mi casa, serviremos al SEÑOR.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
16 Y el pueblo respondió, y dijo: Lejos esté de nosotros abandonar al SEÑOR para servir a otros dioses;

So the people answered and said: "Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods;
17 porque el SEÑOR nuestro Dios es el que nos sacó, a nosotros y a nuestros padres, de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre, el que hizo estas grandes señales delante de nosotros y nos guardó por todo el camino en que anduvimos y entre todos los pueblos por entre los cuales pasamos.

for the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all the people through whom we passed.
18 Y el SEÑOR echó de delante de nosotros a todos los pueblos, incluso a los amorreos, que moraban en la tierra. Nosotros, pues, también serviremos al SEÑOR, porque El es nuestro Dios.

And the Lord drove out from before us all the people, including the Amorites who dwelt in the land. We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God."
19 Entonces Josué dijo al pueblo: No podréis servir al SEÑOR, porque El es Dios santo, El es Dios celoso; El no perdonará vuestra transgresión ni vuestros pecados.

But Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
20 Si abandonáis al SEÑOR y servís a dioses extranjeros, El se volverá y os hará daño, y os consumirá después de haberos hecho bien.
20
If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good."
21 Respondió el pueblo a Josué: No, sino que serviremos al SEÑOR.

And the people said to Joshua, "No, but we will serve the Lord!"
22 Y Josué dijo al pueblo: Vosotros sois testigos contra vosotros mismos de que habéis escogido al SEÑOR para servirle. Y dijeron: Testigos somos.

So Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord for yourselves, to serve Him." And they said, "We are witnesses!"
23 Ahora pues, quitad los dioses extranjeros que están en medio de vosotros, e inclinad vuestro corazón al SEÑOR, Dios de Israel.

"Now therefore," he said, "put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel."
24 Y el pueblo respondió a Josué: Al SEÑOR nuestro Dios serviremos y su voz obedeceremos.

And the people said to Joshua, "The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!"
25 Entonces Josué hizo un pacto con el pueblo aquel día, y les impuso estatutos y ordenanzas en Siquem.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
26 Y escribió Josué estas palabras en el libro de la ley de Dios; y tomó una gran piedra y la colocó allí debajo de la encina que estaba junto al santuario del SEÑOR.

Then Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.
27 Y dijo Josué a todo el pueblo: He aquí, esta piedra servirá de testigo contra nosotros, porque ella ha oído todas las palabras que el SEÑOR ha hablado con nosotros; será, pues, testigo contra vosotros para que no neguéis a vuestro Dios.

And Joshua said to all the people, "Behold, this stone shall be a witness to us, for it has heard all the words of the Lord which He spoke to us. It shall therefore be a witness to you, lest you deny your God."
28 Entonces Josué despidió al pueblo, cada uno a su heredad.
28
So Joshua let the people depart, each to his own inheritance.
29 Y sucedió que después de estas cosas Josué, hijo de Nun, siervo del SEÑOR, murió a la edad de ciento diez años.

Now it came to pass after these things that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being one hundred and ten years old.
30 Y lo sepultaron en la tierra de su heredad, en Timnat-sera, que está en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte del monte Gaas.

And they buried him within the border of his inheritance at Timnath Serah, which is in the mountains of Ephraim, on the north side of Mount Gaash.
31 Y sirvió Israel al SEÑOR todos los días de Josué y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué y que habían conocido todas las obras que el SEÑOR había hecho por Israel.

Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had known all the works of the Lord which He had done for Israel.
32 Los huesos de José, que los hijos de Israel habían traído de Egipto, fueron sepultados en Siquem, en la parcela de campo que Jacob había comprado a los hijos de Hamor, padre de Siquem, por cien monedas de plata ; y pasaron a ser posesión de los hijos de José.

The bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel had brought up out of Egypt, they buried at Shechem, in the plot of ground which Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for one hundred pieces of silver, and which had become an inheritance of the children of Joseph.
33 Y murió Eleazar, hijo de Aarón; y lo sepultaron en el collado de su hijo Finees, que le había sido dado en la región montañosa de Efraín.

And Eleazar the son of Aaron died. They buried him in a hill belonging to Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the mountains of Ephraim.
