1 Mas los hijos de Israel fueron infieles en cuanto al anatema, porque Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó de las cosas dedicadas al anatema; y la ira del SEÑOR se encendió contra los hijos de Israel.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the Lord burned against the children of Israel.
2 Y Josué envió hombres desde Jericó a Hai, que está cerca de Bet-avén al este de Betel, y les dijo: Subid y reconoced la tierra. Y los hombres subieron y reconocieron a Hai.

Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and spy out the country." So the men went up and spied out Ai.
3 Cuando volvieron a Josué, le dijeron: Que no suba todo el pueblo; sólo dos o tres mil hombres subirán a Hai; no hagas cansar a todo el pueblo subiendo allá, porque ellos son pocos.

And they returned to Joshua and said to him, "Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few."
4 Así que subieron allá unos tres mil hombres del pueblo, pero huyeron ante los hombres de Hai.

So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai.
5 Y los hombres de Hai hirieron de ellos a unos treinta y seis hombres, y los persiguieron desde la puerta hasta Sebarim, y los derrotaron en la bajada; y el corazón del pueblo desfalleció y se hizo como agua.

And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water.
6 Entonces Josué rasgó sus vestidos y postró su rostro en tierra delante del arca del SEÑOR hasta el anochecer, él y los ancianos de Israel; y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas.

Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
7 Y Josué dijo: ¡Ah, Señor DIOS! ¿Por qué hiciste pasar a este pueblo el Jordán, para entregarnos después en manos de los amorreos y destruirnos? ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos propuesto habitar al otro lado del Jordán!

And Joshua said, "Alas, Lord God, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all--to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan!
8 ¡Ah, Señor! ¿Qué puedo decir, ya que Israel ha vuelto la espalda ante sus enemigos?

O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns its back before its enemies?
9 Porque los cananeos y todos los habitantes de la tierra se enterarán de ello, y nos rodearán y borrarán nuestro nombre de la tierra. ¿Y qué harás tú por tu gran nombre?

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?"
10 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Josué: ¡Levántate! ¿Por qué te has postrado rostro en tierra?

So the Lord said to Joshua: "Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face?
11 Israel ha pecado y también ha transgredido mi pacto que les ordené. Y hasta han tomado de las cosas dedicadas al anatema, y también han robado y mentido, y además las han puesto entre sus propias cosas.

Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.
12 No pueden, pues, los hijos de Israel hacer frente a sus enemigos; vuelven la espalda delante de sus enemigos porque han venido a ser anatema. No estaré más con vosotros a menos que destruyáis las cosas dedicadas al anatema de en medio de vosotros.

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.
13 Levántate, consagra al pueblo y di: "Consagraos para mañana, porque así ha dicho el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: "Hay anatema en medio de ti, oh Israel. No podrás hacer frente a tus enemigos hasta que quitéis el anatema de en medio de vosotros.'

Get up, sanctify the people, and say, 'Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: "There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you."
14 "Por la mañana os acercaréis, pues, por tribus. Y será que la tribu que el SEÑOR señale se acercará por familias, y la familia que el SEÑOR señale se acercará por casas, y la casa que el SEÑOR señale se acercará hombre por hombre.

In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which the Lord takes shall come according to families; and the family which the Lord takes shall come by households; and the household which the Lord takes shall come man by man.
15 "Y será que el hombre que sea sorprendido con las cosas dedicadas al anatema será quemado, él y todo lo que le pertenece, porque ha quebrantado el pacto del SEÑOR, y ha cometido infamia en Israel."

Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.' "
16 Y Josué se levantó muy de mañana, e hizo acercar a Israel por tribus, y fue designada la tribu de Judá.

So Joshua rose early in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken.
17 Mandó acercar a las familias de Judá, y fue designada la familia de los de Zera; e hizo acercar a la familia de Zera, hombre por hombre, y Zabdi fue designado.

He brought the clan of Judah, and he took the family of the Zarhites; and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man, and Zabdi was taken.
18 Mandó acercar su casa hombre por hombre; y fue designado Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá.

Then he brought his household man by man, and Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
19 Entonces Josué dijo a Acán: Hijo mío, te ruego, da gloria al SEÑOR, Dios de Israel, y dale alabanza; y declárame ahora lo que has hecho. No me lo ocultes.

Now Joshua said to Achan, "My son, I beg you, give glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession to Him, and tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me."
20 Y Acán respondió a Josué, y dijo: En verdad he pecado contra el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel, y esto es lo que he hecho:

And Achan answered Joshua and said, "Indeed I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what I have done:
21 cuando vi entre el botín un hermoso manto de Sinar y doscientos siclos de plata y una barra de oro del peso de cincuenta siclos, los codicié y los tomé; y he aquí, están escondidos en la tierra dentro de mi tienda con la plata debajo.

"When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it."
22 Y Josué envió emisarios, que fueron corriendo a la tienda, y he aquí que el manto estaba escondido en su tienda con la plata debajo.

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.
23 Y los sacaron de la tienda, los llevaron a Josué y a todos los hijos de Israel, y los pusieron delante del SEÑOR.

And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the Lord.
24 Entonces Josué, y con él todo Israel, tomó a Acán, hijo de Zera, y la plata, el manto, la barra de oro, sus hijos, sus hijas, sus bueyes, sus asnos, sus ovejas, su tienda y todo lo que le pertenecía, y los llevaron al valle de Acor.

Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor.
25 Y Josué dijo: ¿Por qué nos has turbado? El SEÑOR te turbará hoy. Y todo Israel los apedreó y los quemaron después de haberlos apedreado.

And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day." So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.
26 Y levantaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras que permanece hasta hoy; y el SEÑOR se volvió del furor de su ira. Por eso se ha llamado aquel lugar el valle de Acor hasta el día de hoy.

Then they raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. So the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.
