Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, now that Ehud was dead.
2 Entonces el Señor<br /> los entregó a Jabín, un rey cananeo de Hazor. El comandante de su ejército era Sísara, que vivía en Haroset-goim.

So the LORD sold them into the hands of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. Sisera, the commander of his army, was based in Harosheth Haggoyim.
3 Sísara, quien tenía novecientos carros de guerra hechos de hierro, oprimió a los israelitas sin piedad durante veinte años, hasta que el pueblo de Israel clamó al Señor<br /> por ayuda.

Because he had nine hundred chariots fitted with iron and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the LORD for help.

Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.
5 Solía sentarse bajo la Palmera de Débora, entre Ramá y Betel, en la zona montañosa de Efraín, y los israelitas acudían a ella para que los juzgara.

She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided.
6 Un día Débora mandó a buscar a Barac, hijo de Abinoam, quien vivía en Cedes, en el territorio de Neftalí y le dijo:<br />—El Señor<br />, Dios de Israel, te ordena: reúne en el monte Tabor a diez mil guerreros de las tribus de Neftalí y de Zabulón.

She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, “The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you: ‘Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead them up to Mount Tabor.
7 Y yo haré que Sísara, el comandante del ejército de Jabín, vaya al río Cisón junto con sus carros de guerra y sus guerreros. Allí te daré la victoria sobre él.

I will lead Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon River and give him into your hands.’ ”
8 Barac le dijo:<br />—Yo iré, pero solo si tú vienes conmigo.

Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
9 —Muy bien —dijo ella—, iré contigo. Pero tú no recibirás honra en esta misión, porque la victoria del Señor<br /> sobre Sísara quedará en manos de una mujer.<br />Así que Débora fue con Barac a Cedes.

“Certainly I will go with you,” said Deborah. “But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the LORD will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 En Cedes, Barac reunió a las tribus de Zabulón y de Neftalí, y diez mil guerreros subieron con él. Débora también lo acompañó.

There Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali, and ten thousand men went up under his command. Deborah also went up with him.
11 Ahora bien, Heber el ceneo, un descendiente de Hobab, cuñado<br /> de Moisés, se había separado de los demás miembros de su tribu y armó su carpa junto al roble de Zaanaim, cerca de Cedes.

Now Heber the Kenite had left the other Kenites, the descendants of Hobab, Moses’ brother-in-law, and pitched his tent by the great tree in Zaanannim near Kedesh.
12 Cuando le dijeron a Sísara que Barac, hijo de Abinoam, había subido al monte Tabor,

When they told Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor,
13 mandó llamar a sus novecientos carros de guerra hechos de hierro y a todos sus guerreros, y marcharon desde Haroset-goim hasta el río Cisón.

Sisera summoned from Harosheth Haggoyim to the Kishon River all his men and his nine hundred chariots fitted with iron.
14 Entonces Débora le dijo a Barac: «¡Prepárate! Hoy es el día en que el Señor<br /> te dará la victoria sobre Sísara, porque el Señor<br /> marcha delante de ti». Así que Barac descendió las laderas del monte Tabor al frente de sus diez mil guerreros para entrar en batalla.

Then Deborah said to Barak, “Go! This is the day the LORD has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?” So Barak went down Mount Tabor, with ten thousand men following him.
15 Cuando Barac atacó, el Señor<br /> llenó de pánico a Sísara y a todos sus carros de guerra y a sus guerreros. Sísara saltó de su carro de guerra y escapó a pie.

At Barak’s advance, the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.
16 Entonces Barac persiguió a los carros y al ejército enemigo hasta Haroset-goim, y mató a todos los guerreros de Sísara. Ni uno solo quedó con vida.

Barak pursued the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim, and all Sisera’s troops fell by the sword; not a man was left.
17 Mientras tanto, Sísara corrió hasta la carpa de Jael, la esposa de Heber, el ceneo, porque la familia de Heber tenía amistad con el rey Jabín, de Hazor.

Sisera, meanwhile, fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was an alliance between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.
18 Jael salió al encuentro de Sísara y le dijo:<br />—Entre en mi carpa, señor. Venga. No tenga miedo.<br />Así que él entró en la carpa, y ella lo cubrió con una manta.

Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Come, my lord, come right in. Don’t be afraid.” So he entered her tent, and she covered him with a blanket.
19 —Dame un poco de agua, por favor —le dijo él—. Tengo sed.<br />Así que ella le dio leche de una bolsa de cuero y volvió a cubrirlo.

“I’m thirsty,” he said. “Please give me some water.” She opened a skin of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him up.
20 —Párate en la puerta de la carpa —le dijo a ella—. Si alguien viene y pregunta si hay alguien adentro, dile que no.

“Stand in the doorway of the tent,” he told her. “If someone comes by and asks you, ‘Is anyone in there?’ say ‘No.’ ”
21 Pero cuando Sísara se durmió por tanto agotamiento, Jael se le acercó en silencio con un martillo y una estaca en la mano. Entonces le clavó la estaca en la sien hasta que quedó clavada en el suelo, y así murió.

But Jael, Heber’s wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.
22 Cuando Barac llegó en busca de Sísara, Jael salió a su encuentro y le dijo: «Ven, te mostraré al hombre que buscas». Entonces él entró en la carpa tras ella, y allí encontró a Sísara muerto, tendido en el suelo con la estaca atravesada en la sien.

Just then Barak came by in pursuit of Sisera, and Jael went out to meet him. “Come,” she said, “I will show you the man you’re looking for.” So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera with the tent peg through his temple—dead.
23 Por lo tanto, ese día Israel vio a Dios derrotar a Jabín, el rey cananeo.

On that day God subdued Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites.
24 Y a partir de entonces, Israel se hizo cada vez más fuerte contra el rey Jabín hasta que finalmente lo destruyó.

And the hand of the Israelites pressed harder and harder against Jabin king of Canaan until they destroyed him.
