Lamentations 3:7-17

NRSA 7 He has walled me about so that I cannot escape; he has put heavy chains on me; NIV 7 He has walled me in so I cannot escape; he has weighed me down with chains. NRSA 8 though I call and cry for help, he shuts out my prayer; NIV 8 Even when I call out or cry for help, he shuts out my prayer. NRSA 9 he has blocked my ways with hewn stones, he has made my paths crooked. NIV 9 He has barred my way with blocks of stone; he has made my paths crooked. NRSA 10 He is a bear lying in wait for me, a lion in hiding; NIV 10 Like a bear lying in wait, like a lion in hiding, NRSA 11 he led me off my way and tore me to pieces; he has made me desolate; NIV 11 he dragged me from the path and mangled me and left me without help. NRSA 12 he bent his bow and set me as a mark for his arrow. NIV 12 He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows. NRSA 13 He shot into my vitals the arrows of his quiver; NIV 13 He pierced my heart with arrows from his quiver. NRSA 14 I have become the laughingstock of all my people, the object of their taunt-songs all day long. NIV 14 I became the laughingstock of all my people; they mock me in song all day long. NRSA 15 He has filled me with bitterness, he has sated me with wormwood. NIV 15 He has filled me with bitter herbs and given me gall to drink. NRSA 16 He has made my teeth grind on gravel, and made me cower in ashes; NIV 16 He has broken my teeth with gravel; he has trampled me in the dust. NRSA 17 my soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is; NIV 17 I have been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is.
